Awami League people can’t help themselves, which is behaving like absolute louts and being an all-round liability for Bangladesh. This morning, as Mr Asif Nazrul (Adviser of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Cultural Affairs) was leaving Geneva for Dhaka, he was cornered...

It's so amazing how a Minister ranked Adviser of the Interim govt could be escorted to the airport by just a single low ranking embassy official ! Why was the adviser dropped off by a non entrance part of the airport instead of the main entry gate ? The BD PR mission in Geneva must inform the Swiss police to arrest these BAL goons in Switzerland on the basis of this video clip and demand an explanation for their thug style conduct.

This is how ideal democracy looks like, where one can go and criticize the law makers in their face. It was unthinkable during Hasina's tenure.

Not just that, he is a bank defaulter and a tax dodger. He along with Salman F Rahman is responsible for the destruction of Bangladesh’s banking sector and introducing all forms of corrupt practices. (Indeed, I blame these two individuals more than the S Alam Group.) Just last month he said he wanted Hasina in power for 100 years, and during the protests, he said that he is with Hasina unconditionally. And how can we forget his “Joy Bangla, Joy Sheikh Hasina” slogan at the FBCCI summit last year? Two days ago, the BFIU asked banks to freeze Mr Mazumder and his family's bank accounts. How can such a man be on the Biman board? C’mon, you can’t have it both ways. Unless this despicable relic from the Sheikh Hasina era is dropped from the board and investigated for all his financial crimes, we will have to start believing that Muhammad Yunus’s government is in the business of rehabilitating Hasina’s cronies back into Bangladesh society. If Mr Salman F Rahman can be put in jail, so should this man -- his crimes are no less. PS. I must say that the interim government’s move to freeze the bank accounts of Awami League people is just an eyewash. The instructions were very belated, which gave these people enough time to clear their bank accounts. The sincerity is seriously lacking in the interim government’s actions. PPS. Remember that Aung San Suu Kyi was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize

#The glorious history of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Awami League. Note: I am a minor supporter of the Awami League. But in the current reality and overall context of Bangladesh, whenever I sit down to write about independence, liberation war, history-tradition, development and law and order, the topic of Awami League comes up again and again. And that is why, perhaps, a kind of liking and interest in the party is gradually arising without my knowledge. Bangladesh Awami League—a name, a history. One of the largest political organizations in the world. This party has several crores of supporters and has a golden history. As an organization that gave birth to a country, its pulse is connected with the common people of the country. Various anti-liberation forces in Bangladesh have made various efforts for the last 55 years to stop or destroy the Bangladesh Awami League, which believes in independence, liberation war, free intellect, non-communal consciousness, development and creativity. In continuation of this, the architect of independent Bengal, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was killed along with his family. The Bangladesh Awami League has been banned at various times and initiatives have been taken to suspend or limit its political activities. Many believe and politically assess that after the political changes that took place in the context of the student movement in August 2024, the anti-liberation forces united to bring down the then Sheikh Hasina government. Later, the activities of Bangladesh Awami League, one of the oldest and most traditional political organizations in the country, were banned. At the same time, allegations of arrest, harassment, and torture of thousands of Awami League leaders and activists have also come to the fore. There may be political differences, but violence, oppression, killing, or extrajudicial harassment against leaders and activists of any political party can never be acceptable in a democratic society. These incidents are condemnable, inhumane, and contrary to the rule of law and human rights. History testifies that no political organization can be permanently erased through administrative or repressive measures. Political ideologies can only be confronted through political and democratic processes. However, the history of Awami League is very long and deep; it cannot be easily erased. Tomorrow, June 23, is the 77th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League. Warm greetings to the party's leaders, activists, supporters and well-wishers on this historic day. Joy Bangla. I am visiting Dhaka to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Mr. Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister-Elect of Bangladesh. During my visit, I had the honour of calling on the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus. I warmly congratulated Professor Yunus and the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of elections and the historic democratic transition. I conveyed Pakistan’s sincere good wishes for continued stability, progress, and prosperity for Bangladesh under its new leadership. Our discussions focused on opening a new, forward-looking chapter in Pakistan–Bangladesh relations. I expressed appreciation for the positive momentum in bilateral ties, including growing trade engagement, revival of direct air connectivity, and renewed people-to-people contacts. We agreed that the current regional and geopolitical environment demands greater economic cooperation, connectivity, and collaboration between our two countries. I also acknowledged Professor Yunus’s remarkable global contributions to social entrepreneurship and inclusive development. I extended an invitation for him to visit Pakistan so that we may further institutionalise cooperation in areas of shared interest, particularly youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development. I apprised the Chief Adviser of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships under the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative and informed him that the first batch of Bangladeshi students has already commenced studies at leading Pakistani universities. Investing in our youth and strengthening academic partnerships will lay the foundation for durable trust and long-term collaboration. Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep cultural, historical, and social affinities. It is time to transform these affinities into structured economic partnerships, academic exchanges, and regional cooperation. Our future lies in building connectivity, expanding trade, empowering youth, and shaping a stable and prosperous South Asia together. UN Human Rights Body Became Democrats Tool for Regime Change - UNHRC Commissioner Volker Türk’s Admission ---- UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, openly admitted that he personally warned (or rather, threatened) the Bangladesh Military—with UN peacekeeping mission—not to assist the government in handling the chaos and violence in July. In his own words, "he warned them not to get involved with the situation.” This interference came at a critical moment when the government imposed a curfew on July 18 to restore law and order. As a result, the civil administration was left to tackle the mayhem, riot, chaos and instability all alone, without military support. The primary responsibility of any armed force is to assist the government in maintaining peace and stability when the situation spirals out of control. Yet, Türk’s warning actively discouraged that duty. It is also important to note that most of the casualties occurred between July 19 and July 24. Had the military been allowed to act, could many of these deaths have been prevented. Türk’s statement makes it clear: The UNHCR was not a neutral body in this crisis. By instigating the army to defy its own government, the UNHCR became a complicit actor in the events that led to these casualties. #Bangladesh #BangladeshCrisis #VolkerTurk #UN #UnitedNations #UNHRC #OHCHR #QuotaMovement Volker Türk UN Human Rights Council UN Human Rights Council UN Human Rights European Union in Bangladesh U.S. Embassy Dhaka India in Bangladesh Randhir Jaiswal Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) Assistant Secretary Riley Barnes Department of State Office of International Religious Freedom Donald J. #WATCH | Hyderabad, Telangana: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi says, "As far as our party is concerned, we condemn what happened to Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mandal, and we support whatever steps the Government of India is taking to ensure that the relationship with Bangladesh remains stronger." "Bangladesh was created on secular Bangla nationalism, and there are 20 million minorities who are not Muslims who live in Bangladesh...I sincerely hope that the tensions don't escalate between India and Bangladesh, and whatever is happening in Bangladesh in terms of what happened to the sad incident of Dipu Chandra Das and Amrit Mandal is contrary to their own constitutional mandate, and I hope that Mr Yunus will ensure that all the minorities living in Bangladesh are protected. But at the same time, we must remember that the stability in Bangladesh is very important for security of India, especially Northeast. A popular revolution has happened in Bangladesh, and we hope that when the elections are held in February, the relationship between India and Bangladesh will improve for good. And we must also remember that ISI, China and all these forces which are inimical to India are now in Bangladesh...But at the same time, please understand that we cannot forget what is happening in our country. On December 24, a labourer from West Bengal was lynched in Odisha's Sambalpur. A tribal boy doing MBA in Uttarakhand was beaten up, Angel Chakma. He died...So these are all clear examples of how when the rule of law breaks and majority-run politics overtakes everything, these lynchings happen, which we have to condemn."

During security checks at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan's bag was found to contain a gun magazine with bullets. Although the weapon itself was not found in his bag. But why would an advisor, who secured a position in the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh cabinet as a student representative, would carry a gun magazine in his bag? Does he normally carry weapons? He has security protocols from the government, and it is expected that they carry weapons. What's more surprising is how the magazine with bullets ended up in Asif's bag just before he traveled abroad. Does Asif have a license for firearms? And after the bullets were recovered, was he interrogated in any way? Now, moving to the second important issue: the presence of the weapon's magazine in Asif's bag was probably overlooked during the first check at the VIP gate, possibly because the operator was somewhat inattentive, so the magazine was not found in the initial stage. At the security check before boarding the plane — fortunately — the magazine along with the bullets was identified, and it was taken by his personal officer. Various news reports about this incident have already disappeared from almost all media outlets. So, where has the freedom of the press gone in Bangladesh 2.0? In the future, will you delete any published or broadcasted news? If you do, I would be even more interested to dig deeper the incident by going to the core of the deleted news and exposing it in this manner.

INSECURITY: LET'S TELL PRESIDENT TINUBU THE TRUTH, NOT COMMENDATION Today, the Senate had an elaborate discussion on the security situation in the country, which has worsened in the last few weeks. When the Senate President recognised me to speak, I started by reminding him how I raised this issue with him a couple of days ago, and the need for us to work together. I added that it was good the matter had come up by way of a motion. I felt that the deterioration of the security situation in most communities, the killings and abductions, and even the killing of soldiers and officers — one of them of the rank of Brigadier General — and the way terrorists are abducting students, with bandits attacking several States at the same time, are situations that even nations at war do not experience. Therefore, the matter should be examined with all the seriousness it deserves. I stated that it is very clear that not only our democracy is under threat, but the nation itself is being reduced, belittled, and threatened. I also disagreed with the approach and tone of the motion, and some of the comments from members of the majority party who, in my view, were unnecessarily political. That, in my view, did not match the seriousness of the issue. At this point, the Senate President did not allow me to conclude my comments. But what I was saying was that, yes, as I have said several times, the entire nation is under attack, and we must all unite to address this challenge. I do not agree with the request in the motion, supported by the majority of speakers from the majority party, that the President and the government should be commended. I disagree with it.
