Awami League people canโ€™t help themselves, which is behaving like absolute louts and being an all-round liability for Bangladesh. This morning, as Mr Asif Nazrul (Adviser of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Cultural Affairs) was leaving Geneva for Dhaka, he was cornered by Bangladesh Awami League cadres (Nazrul Islam Zamader. President Switzerland Awamileage, photo attached and Shaymol Khan, Genarel secretary Switzerland Awamileage photo attached and others). I am just baffled that these louts could get so close Mr Nazrul, arguably the second-most important person in the interim government โ€” just where is the protocol from the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh, Geneva? Why did the Swiss MFA Swiss Security Policy EDA - DFAE did not provide any form of security? Why is the security staff at Genรจve Aรฉroport allowing these louts to harass a high-ranking foreign government official? I donโ€™t think the airport security staff at the Dhaka airport would allow such activities. I am sure Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh would agree! I hope the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also demands an explanation from the Bangladesh mission in Switzerland for the utter disrespect shown to Mr Nazrul. Last year, when his predecessor came, the entire embassy staff came to see him off, complete with security. Here, they sent just a chauffeur and one low-ranking staff. Also, why is the embassyโ€™s website still displaying photos of Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman? I gather that Switzerland, even the embassy, is Gopalganj-3. This is unacceptable behavior all-round and I hope the interim government looks into it with exigency. FYKI Gilbert F. Houngbo International Labour Organization United Nations Geneva

I was in disbelief while watching Muhammad Yunusโ€™s speech to the business community on the 12th of September. That speech had zero substance, was not at all rooted in reality โ€” and was self-serving through and through. The news of factory closures for labour unrest, production being hampered for days on end, vandalism of factories and businesses, work orders and investments being diverted from Bangladesh and the overall dicey law and order situation โ€” are truly alarming developments. And I assume the gathering of the business community was to send out a strong message from the head of the government that such anarchy, mob justice, lawlessness and belligerence will not be tolerated any further. Let alone a strong message he didnโ€™t even touch upon this issue. In his address to the nation on the 8th of September, he touched upon this issue barely in passing โ€” when it should have been one of the highlights of his speech. Youโ€™d have even missed it were you not listening in to the speech with rapt attention. One way to construe his disinterest in the issue is that he tacitly approves of this newfound belligerence and mob rule. Or else why would you not strongly condemn such acts โ€” and pledge exemplary actions against the miscreants โ€” that are kicking your economy towards the edge? Iโ€™d say Yunusโ€™s speech was downright disrespectful and offensive โ€” to the business community, to all those who lost their lives in the movement to ouster the Sheikh Hasina government, and to the generations before us who built Bangladesh into what it is today. By harping on and on about the great sacrifice that the students made, he disrespected those who died as most of them were not public university students. By not talking about the private sectorโ€™s most pressing issue and lecturing them to do social business, he disrespected the entire business community and the spirit of entrepreneurship that drives our nation. By calling Bangladesh a rotten country that needs building from the ground up, he disrespected the generations before us that carried Bangladesh over from 1971. The speech was a trashy attempt at tapping into peopleโ€™s emotions and was full of empty words. And yes, there were quite a few inaccuracies in that speech. No, Mr Yunus, the studentsโ€™ movement was not about building a new Bangladesh โ€” it was always about reforming the quota system for government jobs. Sheikh Hasinaโ€™s resignation was always the publicโ€™s demand โ€” and long before this movement started. What is most outrageous is that he says he has come to drill in the message that we have the chance to rebuild Bangladesh because of the studentsโ€™ deaths. Cโ€™mon, how can you manipulate facts like this? This is not expected from someone of his stature. He says the business tycoons should be grateful to the students because they have opened up new opportunities, that the business community should use those new opportunities to realise the studentsโ€™ dreams of building a new Bangladesh. He urges the business community not to tread on the wrong path thinking about the dead students. How ridiculous does this sound to a balanced, rational adult? How did this man make a living as a motivational speaker all these years? At this point, his non-stop eulogising of the students is coming across as exceedingly obsequious and artificial. We were all there before July 2024, we all fought the good fight.

So the discourse around this Dave Ramsey clip is so mixed up that Iโ€™ve just decided to upload the whole thing. In the full context of the call, the caller makes it perfectly obvious that: 1. She has been with this man, whom she is now living with, for six years. 2. She is a nurse and can make her own money. 3. She has been out of school for two years, and in that time she has paid off $70,000 of the debt. In the course of the call, Dave never suggests that this man should have to pay for that debt. Indeed, he actively suggests that she leave him, which guarantees he will not pay for the debt. Dave also all but says that, because of her career choice, the caller will be able to pay for the debt on her own, even if she has to take extra hours. All Dave is sayingโ€”and this should have been obvious from the original clipโ€”is that the two are not aligned on money and debt at all. It is also clear that Dave thinks the man is stringing her along, which he is. So they simply should not be married at all, because this is a fundamental failure in the relationship. I myself would add that, at this late stage in the relationship, if you do not trust a woman financially, you should simply not be with that woman. And that is perfectly fine. But what you do not do is drag her along for six years when she obviously wants to get married, and then put another two or three years of financial hoops in front of her so that maybe you will propose. It is a waste of everybodyโ€™s time.

Iโ€™ve seen a lot of people accuse Saudi Arabia of fabricating the moon sighting. Below is proof that it wasnโ€™t. The first video is the exact moment the moon was sighted. The second video is the official testifying before a judge about the set up and what he saw exactly. He says "At 6:11pm (precisely) we saw an opening in the sky, and we all saw the moon and around the opening was all clouds" There is also a picture but it is against the Sunnah to share proof when a testimony is given by a Muslim so I refuse to share it in case we set a precedent to always share a picture and that would be a big error. A testimony of a Muslim is enough as we see from the Hadith of the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbaas ุฑุถูŠ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู†ู‡ said: A Bedouin came to the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… and said, I have seen the new moon tonight. He said, "Do you bear witness that there is no god except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" He said, Yes. He said, "Get up, O Bilaal, and announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow." [at Tirmidhi: 691 Abu Dawood: [2340], an Nasaa'i: [2112] Ibn Maajah: [1652]. Shaykh al Albaani ุฑุญู…ู‡ ุงู„ู„ู‡ said: So we see from the Hadith that he, ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู…ุŒ instructed Bilaal to announce to the people that they would fast the next day. So the Messenger ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… was content with the testimony of this man, whom he did not know, on the basis that he bore witness that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, i.e. he knew that he was a Muslim, but he did not check on him any further and he did not try to find out how intelligent and smart he was, as was the case in the first Hadith in which the witness was 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar ibn al Khattab ุฑุถูŠ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู†ู‡. Yet despite that he accepted his testimony. This Hadith makes things easier for people, and what this means is that the judge should be content with the witness as he appears to be, without needing to find people who know this man and can testify that he is of good character, as was the habit of judges since time immemorial. Rather it is sufficient to know that he is a Muslim. This man was a Bedouin of whom the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… had no prior knowledge and he was content that he uttered the Shahaadatayn before him. So he was a Muslim with the same rights and duties as any other, and based on his testimony and the fact that he was a Muslim he said: O Bilaal, announced to the people that they should fast tomorrow. [At Ta laaq 'ala Kitaab Bulugh al Maraam, (audio tape), Hadith 5, Kitaab al Siyaam] This Hadith is evidence for the principle that a Muslim is to be regarded as being of good character unless proven otherwise. Al San'aani ุฑุญู…ู‡ ุงู„ู„ู‡ said concerning what we learn from the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas ุฑุถูŠ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู†ู‡: It indicates that the basic principle with regard to the Muslims is that they are of good character, because the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… did not ask the Bedouin for anything except the Shahaadah. [Subul as Salaam by as San'aani: 2/153] And Allah knows best.
