🇮🇷 Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said he spent much of the war among ordinary Iranians in the field, listening to their concerns and grievances, though “many of you did not recognize me.” 🔸 He said public support, criticism, and engagement reflected the population’s concern for the country’s future. 🔸 He thanked Iran’s public, armed forces, and Supreme Leader Khamenei for their roles during the war, saying the country’s recent achievements were made possible by national unity and military sacrifice. 🔸 Ghalibaf added that the “logic of power” with which Iran now speaks is owed to the sacrifices and efforts of the country’s armed forces and commanders.

Today #Iran's regime's supreme leader released a pre-recorded message for the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, a day after he wasn't present for the anniversary of the Homafaran Allegiance, which was the first time in 37 years he had not participated in a public commemoration for it. This video is a little unusual in terms of televised Khamenei messages as traditionally he's seated when he records a video. Here Khamenei is standing awkwardly. The substance of the message is the usual stale Islamic Republic platitudes, about "disappointing the enemy," etc. He says "national power is related more to the will of nations and their steadfastness than to missiles and aircraft." A nation whose regime massacres its own people is not strong, it's profoundly weak.

The burning of the National Flag in a political advertisement is treasonous. The National Flag is a sacred symbol of our unity and existence as a nation and to burn it is despicable. Any organisation that commits such an act, especially in the name of political expediency, is an organisation that seeks to destroy our country, that seeks to destroy our country’s unity and collective identity. He said, “Whoever is operating the teleprompter is in big trouble”. The president went on to criticise the United Nations ; he claimed he had ended seven wars on his own, and the ‘United Nations did nothing to help’.

A few observations from Khamenei's speech--his first after the historic protests in #Iran last night. (1) This was a classic Khamenei speech. He didn't give an inch. Doubled down. Deflected. He's been marinating for four decades in his ideology and conspiratorial thinking. And he had a front row seat for the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Khamenei believed because the Shah made concessions that contributed to his downfall. Therefore, that is a lesson Khamenei has applied to all rounds of protests, so he will likely hold firm. This is why the Iranian people have concluded the Islamic Republic must go. It can't be reformed. (2) Khamenei delivered the speech from the Imam Khomeini Husseiniyeh in a public setting--which is attached to his office likely to show he is not hiding underground and hasn't fled. It's also why I'm skeptical of reports Khamenei has plans to flee. He will die in Iran, in my assessment, as it's not like he has extensive ties abroad. He's different in that way. Perhaps others around him would flee, but not him.

I had a great conversation with Tony Kinnett and I want to thank him for his support for Iranians and for the opportunity he gave me to be the voice of Iranians inside Iran. For more than a month now, Iranians inside Iran have had no access to the Internet and cannot make their voices heard around the world because the Islamic regime has cut off the Internet for the entire nation. The greatest desire of the people of Iran is to end the Islamic regime and have Prince Reza Pahlavi as a leader for Iran's future. #JavidShah
