AZ Chike gets emotional while previewing "No Rest for the Wicked", explaining just how personal this album is to him. The room was filled with family photos, including several of his grandmother, who appears on the album cover. Chike says this is the first cover of his career that doesn’t feature his own face because he knew this project “had to be a special one.” He also made sure to honor the people behind the music, including Dot and Sounwave, with personal photos never shared publicly before. He also revealed Kendrick repeatedly pushed him outside his comfort zone by having him sing and develop melodies, something Chike had largely avoided throughout his career! “Dot was really on me about, ‘You got to master the melodies. Like, you got to master these hooks!’” Chike says Kendrick already trusted what he could do with verses, but their sessions became far more detailed once they reached the hooks. That process had him learning Melodyne and experimenting with vocal techniques he previously had little interest in using!

In Kafka, we have topics. Producers send data to a topic, and consumers pull data from it. Each topic has multiple partitions. You might have heard your team lead say that we can simply increase the partition count to make our cluster more scalable. There is no ordering guarantee across partitions for a topic, but messages within a partition are ordered. This can be confusing initially, but think of consumer groups as subscribers: each group has multiple consumers pulling data from a topic, and the group maintains its own offset for that topic.
