Background Player is essentially an invincibility field for coordinated survivors dying on pallets. The range at which the killer needs to check for someone with background player is much further than most killers can reasonably leave from a slug without opening themselves to conviction or WGLF.

Conviction is not an easy perk to use correctly. But when it's used by a good player in the right situation, it is game ending for the killer. The problem with this design is that Conviction is totally silent until it activates, with no signs or plans that the killer can take to prepare for it. When it works, it just happens and you lose, that's it.

Enduring seems like a simple perk, who could find fault in it? In reality it commits 2 cardinal sins of perk design (in my opinion) which are: 1. Encouraging killers to form bad habits and not learn chase (a crutch for some) and 2. Funneling survivors into predropping pallets to avoid its effect. Not to mention its interaction with spirit fury, which further incentivizes never interacting with the killer up close. Hold W and predrop, guys!

Nowhere to Hide is the clearest example of a crutch perk on the killer side. Survivors have run to yellow, killers have point and click aura adventure. Stealth is such an important intangible part of this game. Nowhere to hide existing in a trial removes that and forces everyone to hold W forever. Holding W is boring, in my opinion! I think this perk's range should be reduced, and it should stop working when a killer movement ability is used.

When people ask me why I hate Blight I am going to show them this clip At a certain level of killer skill, the only way to survive against Blight is predrop predrop predrop predrop and die when you run out of strong pallets and zoned by brutal strength spam. Iridescent Seal is a corny add on that punishes survivors simply for playing the game normally, similarly to broken survivor perks like Shoulder the Burden or Conviction. This effect is pretty outdated and could be a lot more fun for both sides.

Blood Favor is one of the worst designed killer perks, with how it forces survivors to play in one specific way and can kill you instantly depending on the map and where it hits you. Randomness, restricting chase mindgames, making the chase of already strong killers downright stupid... it's a wonder this perk hasn't been targeted yet. The only silver lining is that most good killer players are honorable to pretend like it doesn't exist!

Decisive Strike is an integral concept to Dead by Daylight as a whole, but its main issue is that it's exactly as strong as the people using it. It can't be balanced for the 20,000 hours swf stacking 4 of them and the 100 hours solo player it was designed for. Add diminishing returns on the amount of them in the trial, and 3 seconds for weak killers + 6 seconds for the strongest killers. Do that and you have the perfect anti tunnel perk.

My final thoughts on the Trickster gameplay update ("rework") - Too similar to the old Trickster to increase his popularity outside of people buying MiNA - 4.4 feels legitimately awful against veteran survivors with good pathing - 6 blades to injure feels good. The snappy feeling of pulling up blades to only fire 2 or 3 feels really good and precise. I might be playing a lot more Trickster, but I highly doubt the average killer player will. It feels like they have placed artificial restraints on the strength of an already weak killer.

Dissolution is a perk which discourages interaction in chase by removing one of the most fun types of mindgame in dbd for both sides, playing filler pallets. I call these types of perks "chase slop" and they are a big crutch for a lot of killer players, making chases boring.

Gen slowdown is the standard that DBD is built around, and should always be the default killer build. It's the most skillful way to play killer, and builds which have 3+ non gen slowdown perks tend to be some of the most boring to face. Aura reading and chase perks are like temporary steroids for missing game sense and chase skills, creating uninteractive and boring situations when stacked (endfury, dissolution, nowhere to hide, etc)
