In Muzaffarpur, kids are seen uprooting tiles from the riverside footpath with their bare hands. This is absolutely unacceptable. First, damaging public property is a crime. Those responsible must be caught, and their guardians should be held accountable under the law. Second, what kind of construction is this? If tiles can be pulled out so easily, it clearly points toward poor quality work and possible corruption. Strict action is needed both against those vandalizing public property and those responsible for such substandard construction.

@Culture_Crit Among several theories on how these majestic structures were made, one is the use of Inset ramps. That is a spiral of interior ramps were used which allowed the stones to be moved upward as construction progressed.

I'm puzzled why Ezra Klein keeps pointing to the project in SF as a good example. At best it's a slightly less bad The building cost less *per unit* (and were still $400K for 260sf studios) because they were smaller than units in other buildings. Not due to modular methods

The only entire building that collapsed in Bangkok was the nearly completed Thailand Audit Office building, constructed by China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group Urban Construction Company. It was the company's first overseas super high-rise project, yet it was brought down in just five seconds by aftershocks from an epicenter 341 miles (550 km) away! Thai netizens were also shocked!
