What is established, however, is that in 1996, elements of the Banyamulenge — conditioned and supervised by the Rwandan army — carried out mass crimes that the UN Mapping Report qualified as acts of genocide. They massacred indiscriminately women, children, elderly people, and Hutu civilians. Once again, the Banyamulenge were used as instruments to commit these massacres, always by the same criminal and rogue regime in Kigali. The Congolese people, for their part, have never sought revenge. Clearly, the Kigali regime excels in the art of playing the ethnic card, pushing people to commit crimes, exacerbating fears, and turning its recruits into killing machines through techniques of psychological deconstruction. Today, once again, the Banyamulenge are being used as cannon fodder and as a media lever to create smokescreens by crying genocide in order to whitewash the crimes of the M23/INKOTANYI. Thus, the façade is well-maintained, but behind the decor and the bullshit lies an informal civil state and an implacable ethnic filter. These are not Congolese people; they are Rwandan refugees in the Congo. The name they have adopted’ “Banyamulenge” derives from Mount Mulenge, where they stayed upon their arrival in the Congo. They have never denounced nor even uttered a single word regarding the massacres of Congolese people perpetrated by Rwanda. Yet they claim to be Congolese! But whenever Rwanda finds itself with its back against the wall, it is *them* that it uses in its lies and manipulations. We are wise to their game; it will no longer work. Let them go back home to Rwanda.
