Anyone know some ideal indications? Barbed sutures are used in a variety of surgical procedures, including: •Plastic and reconstructive surgery Barbed sutures are commonly used in facial cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, and body contouring. They can help reduce scarring and operative time. •Orthopedic and hand surgery Barbed sutures can be used in arthroscopic procedures to avoid tying knots. •Obstetrical and gynecologic surgery Barbed sutures can be used to repair incisions from cesarean sections and laparotomies. •Urologic surgery Barbed sutures can be used in robotic prostatectomies. •General and thoracic surgery Barbed sutures can be used to close incisions from laparotomies and thoracotomies. •Emergency room procedures Barbed sutures can be used to close multiple layers of wounds quickly, especially in larger or deeper wounds.

Looks so convenient! Can it work for mattress sutures too?

They look uncomfortable to remove, compared to smooth 😎☮️

I would like to try this but I worry that the barbs would irritate the patients skin?

Great idea. I wonder how they compare in terms of cosmesis/scarring. No knot is good, but fatter suture means larger hole. I'm sure a lot depends on location and duration.

I would be interested in hearing how the patients feel about them during removal.
