BART was supposed to be luxury transportation! We have fallen so far. 😭

In those days california was a republican state

Amazing what a difference adding a few hundred repeat offender violent drug addicted hobos will do to your sleek aluminum BART cars.

Now they ask you to please not poop on the seats & kill people.

Blacks ruin everything. No matter how luxury you make something, if you allow blacks to use it, they will drive away the decent people and you’ll be left with the feral blacks terrorizing those foolish enough to still use it.

Anyone else feel that they were born in the wrong era?

I used to be a waiter many years back and this old vet, unafraid to speak his mind, told me this: "The riff-raff ruined this town once BART was put in." It was like a virus using main arteries to spread. Why do you think Marin still doesn't have BART? Because they know better.

I rode it with friends as a teenager in 1974…from SF to Concord…fast, clean, cheap…with beautiful murals in the stations. I was visiting from Chicago and it was crazy comparing a futuristic train to the old crummy ‘L’ back home.

I had to write a paper in school About BART. Long before drugs and homelessness.

The politicians in the bay area seem to relish rubbing people's noses in crime & grime.

It all boils down to personal safety. Enforce a Japanese-type atmosphere (*) and there would be 10 times the mileage or BART tracks and every one using the system. Note: (*) through swift, frequent and vigorous arrests, prosecutions and punchings in the mouth of offenders.

It's easy to do if they don't STEAL all of the money.

Last time I rode BART was in 2020, from SFO to the East Bay. Dirty and seemed like homeless were using the trains to sleep and just riding all day. Including one guy passed out with a syringe in his hand. ZERO police presence.

I rode the first “public” BART train from Walnut Creek to the SF Financial District. It broke down a lot but otherwise was clean and pleasant. That was in the 70s when San Francisco was a beautiful place instead of the 💩hole it has become.

In the early 80's, I used to live two blocks from the end of the line in Fremont and took BART to San Francisco every day. Fast, cheap and efficient, I was never late for work. What happened?

I used to ride it with my friends when we were kids. I don't think that's a thing anymore.

The society that BART was built for no longer exists

lol, are the seats on luxury transportation supposed to permanently smell like piss?

Future civilizations will need to study the downfall of the United States and the lessons learned

I rode the BART in the late 90's as a kid. San Francisco used to be so nice.

I'm old enough to remember when it did feel like that. Makes me sad to think about those days now

High-class transport. 😂

Collective crap! Anyone knows private property is maintained better by owners rather than by caretakers. BART needs to be privatized!

I'm planning to take BART tomorrow. Is it not good?

It's hit or miss. Last time I rode, the train was delayed by a lot, and a drugged out person was making everyone uncomfortable.

The joys of public transportation.

Um...look at what California has turned into. It no longer looks like this. Dems have destroyed it

@GooGwaba I don’t think it was ever the case, not on practice.

Every city. It boils down to the fact that anything that government touches turns to absolute mush. Now they want to implement universal school lunches (even though a super plurality of parents can afford and want to buy their kids lunch) so they can take that money out of your paycheck too. What will be the result? Mush. In ten years absolute mush. Kids will say “mommy, why can’t you just make me a lunch for school” and mommy will say “because it’s illegal plus they took our lunch money.”

They should have named it Frisco Area Rapid Transit

It would have taken you right into downtown Disney. We've fallen so far.

BART completely ignored the north bay and we are grateful for that. While millions of people moved to the east bay because they found if easy to commute to San Francisco for work, the north bay was left with only the Golden Gate bridge for commuters, so growth was limited, and real estate prices in the north soared.

Bart was nice. Privatize all mass transit and end all unions. Can we at least try ? 🤷♀️

was living in SF as a teen, rode it when it first opened. the stations between Embarcadero and third street were nice, then used to ride BART to Berkeley when I was a student at CAL. now that i am old, i am afraid to go near a BART station in SF

The ones that stay away from the black areas are ok. Antioch for example, but that one going to Mission, oof, bring a gun and some penicillin.

Dirty loud expensive trains. A complete failure of a train system. Most people by far still drive in the Bay Area because of it, unlike NYC where the trains are actually useful.
