The officer was at our department at the time. Our leadership, Critical Incident Support Management and Peer Support teams are fully engaged and supporting the officer's family and all our staff during this very difficult and emotional time. Our focus and attention will remain on all staff and the officer’s family to ensure that the appropriate and required supports are in place. It is important that I recognize our officers and staff continue to provide policing and public safety services to Saanich as they process their own emotions and sense of loss – this exemplifies teamwork, support, and commitment. What was supposed to be a day of celebration for 250 years of American freedom turned into a horrifying sight in North Charleston. Two police officers were attacked and assaulted at a July 4th block party in the Chicora-Cherokee community. Three juveniles and one adult have been arrested in connection to the assault. Four firearms and a makeshift spear were recovered at the scene. More arrests are expected. Attacks on law enforcement are UNACCEPTABLE. Every person responsible must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We stand with the North Charleston Police Department and are relieved both officers are back on duty. Our law enforcement leave their homes every single day knowing they may not come home. On the Fourth of July, they left their families behind to protect their community. They were met with violence. Such a disgrace. God bless our men and women in blue. Protect them at all costs.

Brooklyn: Belt Parkway @ Knapp Street, a 25-year-old man who allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend in New Jersey sparked a chaotic multi-borough pursuit, breaking through police attempts to stop him before being boxed in and arrested on the Belt Parkway. According to police, the incident began in Hoboken, New Jersey, where the suspect allegedly abducted his ex-girlfriend. New Jersey police were tracking the vehicle and notified NYPD Staten Island that it was heading over the Goethals Bridge into Staten Island. The vehicle was reported to have mismatched plates. Officers from the NYPD 62nd Precinct located the vehicle as it continued along the Belt Parkway. Officers attempted to block the vehicle, but the suspect forced his way through, leading to a pursuit. As the suspect attempted to evade police, he sideswiped multiple vehicles, including NYPD police cars, along the Belt Parkway, causing a series of collisions. With the assistance of an NYPD Special Ops helicopter, officers from the NYPD 61st Precinct, NYPD 60th Precinct and officers from MTA Police Department - the helicopter tracked the vehicle from above while units coordinated on the ground. The suspect was ultimately boxed in near the Knapp Street exit on the Belt Parkway and was taken into custody. The suspect, a 25-year-old from Newark, NJ was arrested and charged: • Criminal possession of a weapon (3 counts) • Assault (4 counts) • Reckless Endangerment (5 counts) • Unauthorized use of a vehicle • Unlawful fleeing a Police Officer • Reckless Driving violation • Improper plate violation • Traffic Device violation • Driving on the shoulder/slopes violation

RECKLESS! On Monday, December 1, around 12:30 a.m., AIR5 spotted a reckless driver on US 95 at Charleston. The light-colored sedan was traveling at speeds between 120 and 140 miles per hour, weaving dangerously close to cars and passing on the shoulder. The vehicle was seen sparking at some points while Air 5 tried to keep up with the dangerous speeds. As you can see from this helicopter video, this could have ended in tragedy. One of our patrol officers spotted the vehicle and pulled it over on the southbound I-15 ramp from US 95. Behind the wheel was an 18-year-old who showed signs of impairment. The car also had a 16, 17, and another 18-year-old inside. Dangerous, deadly, and downright dumb. The driver was arrested, and the car was impounded. We are cracking down on dangerous driving, from the air and on the ground. So far, 148 people killed on roads within our jurisdiction in 2025. Event: LLV251200000100
