Context/Details: Grace Millane, a British tourist, was tragically murdered in Auckland, New Zealand, on December 2, 2018. The 22-year-old, who recently graduated from the University of Lincoln, was on a gap year backpacking tour. She had been in New Zealand for two weeks following a trip in South America. Her disappearance sparked a major investigation after her parents did not receive a response to her birthday wishes. Crucial CCTV footage showed her last seen at the CityLife Hotel with Jesse Shane Kempson, a 26-year-old man she met on a dating app. This footage, along with evidence of Kempson's actions post-murder, including internet searches on body disposal, led to his arrest and charge for Millane's murder. The case, tried at the Auckland High Court in November 2019, drew significant attention. Kempson claimed the death occurred accidentally during consensual sex, but he was convicted by a unanimous verdict and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 17 years. His appeal against the conviction was dismissed in December 2020. Grace's body was discovered in the Waitākere Ranges, west of Auckland, stuffed into a suitcase and buried in a shallow grave. The murder caused a profound public reaction in New Zealand, with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern apologizing to Millane's family. Landmarks like Auckland's Sky Tower and Harbour Bridge were lit in her memory. The case raised important discussions about violence against women and the controversial use of rough sex as a defense in murder trials. In response, Millane's mother and cousin founded Love Grace, a charity supporting victims of domestic violence. I provide context and detailed explanations under similar posts. All women should be careful, don't ruin your life because of a few moments of fun, learn something

crazy thing is you can never really trust anyone, one day you go to sleep with your significant other then they’ll wake up wondering what it would look like if they took you apart piece by piece like a lego set

(December 23, 2020) New Zealand- Man who killed his Tinder date caught on video carrying suitcase with her body in it A man in New Zealand was caught on video carrying a suitcase with a woman’s body inside it after he strangled her to death. Jesse Shane Kempson, 28, has been convicted of killing Grace Millane, who was a British backpacker, on the eve of her 22nd birthday in 2018. The two met on Tinder while she was visiting New Zealand. In surveillance footage that recently emerged, according to the New York Post, Kempson can be seen wheeling a luggage trolley into an elevator at a hotel, which reportedly doubled as his home. Kempson and Millane visited a few bars before going back to the hotel, according to CNN. In the footage, Kempson is later seen using the same trolley to carry two suitcases into the elevator. He reportedly later admitted that one of the suitcases contained Millane’s naked body, which was folded into a fetal position. He emerges from the elevator, wheeling the trolley across the lobby. Then, Kempson put the suitcase into a vehicle he rented the day he killed her, drove it to the outskirts of the city, and buried it in a shallow grave, according to the Sun. Cameras also reportedly captured Kempson purchasing a suitcase and a shovel. In February of 2020, Kempson was sentenced to life in prison for killing Millane. He was found guilty of violent sex crimes against two other women in October and November of 2020, according to the Sun. An order that banned Kempson’s identification from being revealed was reportedly lifted on Dec. 22. The order was put in place to prevent jurors in the other trials from linking Kempson to Millane’s murder and exhibiting prejudice. Full Article:
