Rocky had some of the worst test results I ever saw yesterday when I took him to the vets. To be honest I don't know how he was even still able to stand up. Not only does he have glaucoma in his eyes, he also has blood parasites, skin issues, and many of his organs are under pressure. The easy thing to do would be to give up like whoever abandoned Rocky did. Instead of ending his life scared and alone on that beach, he now has a chance and we had one of the most enjoyable Sundays ever. Of course he's not aggressive or wanting to bite. That was just his defense mechanisms yesterday. I was having a lot of trouble getting him moved around today because he was so terrified on the lead. But as soon as I figured out that he enjoyed being carried and as close as possible to human touch, everything changed. Myself and Rocky sat and he had smoked salmon, poached chicken, and lovely sliced ham. He absolutely devoured every single bite. I put a nice bandana on him and gave him lots of attention and just tried in general to make his Sunday as magical as possible. The coming days won't be easy. There's a high likelihood that he'll have some severe battles ahead and he may lose his eyes. But as I went to sleep last night, I just wished that I could get one day with Rocky and I was lucky enough to have that. Now myself and Rocky are greedy for a few more days and maybe even longer. Hoping for a miracle.

I decided I was also going to try to feed him. I thought maybe if I hand-fed him, he would be willing to eat. Maybe he just needed to feel loved. Maybe he needed someone to sit with him and remind him that he wasn’t alone. So I got a can of wet food and took Rocky into the bonding room. And he ate. ❤️😭🙏🏻 He ate half of the can, and that absolutely made my entire day.💖 Rocky is such a sweet boy, but he is also incredibly sad. You can see how much this environment is affecting him. I took him outside, took him for a walk, spent some time with him, and told him that he was loved. Before I left, I put him back in his kennel, and he went straight back to his bed.💔 I promised him that together, we would find him a family.💖 Please, please help me keep my promise. 💔 The longer Rocky stays in this overcrowded shelter, the harder it is becoming for him... He desperately needs someone to come save his life. Please don’t let Rocky become another dog who loses hope inside a shelter kennel. He deserves a family who will love him, give him time to heal, and never give up on him. Rocky is waiting. There were plenty of people who told me to put Rocky out of his misery. To let him go. It was cruel on him to keep him suffering. I even doubted my own decision to fight for his life at times. He just seemed so bad. The blood results and his general eyesight and functions were in such poor shape I worried I might be keeping him alive more out of false hope and for my own dreams. Luckily Rocky had other ideas too. He very much wanted to live and I could see the from day 1. His eyesight if partially back and improving by the day. His bloods are getting better. He is packing on the pounds. Most of all Rocky feels loved and safe and he has lots of dog and human friends now. He belongs. He sprinted into that water today and me and him forgot about all the hard days and the tough worrying nights. He really is a very very special dog ❤️
