The move replaces full transaction re-execution with cryptographic proof verification. Validators would rely on cryptographic proofs rather than replaying transactions. The change is outlined under the L1-zkEVM 2026 roadmap. Ethereum’s first L1-zkEVM workshop is set for Feb. 11, 2026.
