Du Plessis was also at the table in Dakar, Senegal in 1987, one of the Afrikaner business leaders who held secret talks with ANC leaders in exile, helping lay the groundwork for peaceful democratic elections. Cyril Ramaphosa later took the concept to the new ANC government, eventually leading to the Broad-Based BEE Act of 2003. History is rarely as simple as the narrative we're sold. 🇿🇦
