Before anyone mentions the arch, it’s intentional. No back issues here. It’s a powerlifting style I adopted years ago, not something I recommend for beginners.

It’s a reasonable arch anyway. It’s accomplishing what it’s supposed - which is scapular retraction to target the pecs. The ROM is great. Anyone criticizing that arch probably relies on a lot of front delt and triceps to get the weight up

Arch is perfect. Keeps your shoulders safe and pins your blades. Ass on the bench, you’re good.

Arching is the optimal position for recruiting more pec and less shoulder. A completely flat back recruits more shoulder resulting in more shoulder injuries. Women also tend to have a bigger 🍑 with snatched waist that makes that arch look bigger than it really is.

Calling it out before the critics do — smart move. Intentional technique for performance, not something beginners should copy without context. 💪

You can lift more if you arch but you get less out of the lift. Put your feet on the bench and keep your back flat.

You’ve got a brilliant set up. Nothing egregious about that arch. Good stuff

The arch is textbook. I'm more curious about being on tiptoes. Doesn't that take awy your leg drive?

I need those big plates with giant holes in them to make it look like I’m lifting more than I really am. Imagine how impressive those 45lb wagon wheels will look.

Sure, i get it, but a question: Shouldn't you arch based on the goal you have? Max weightt = arch = less rom = more strength Max growth = no arch = more rom = les strength Or does it not matter in your opinion?

Also for those who are not convinced by arch It is healthier and easier on shoulders as well

your form sucks.. You are going to end up with massive back issues. Please get a trainer, or a better trainer.

Nono, that's a perfectly reasonable arch and a good thing to learn even for beginners.

Arch is fine as long as your butt is planted. Solid lift

That’s almost textbook arch, not outlandish competition arch

People see an arch and panic 😅. If it’s controlled and pain-free, that’s what matters.

That's actually a pretty modest arch.

That’s a very mild arch, elbows go below shoulders. I see no problem here.

this level of arch is fine. not the totally ridiculous shit some of these lifters are doing

For a female power lifter that’s minimal.

Looks good. Absolutely nothing wrong with the arch. As long and shoulders and butt touch the bench its a solid rep. Plus you get a better chest workout that way.

I feel like the arch helps some keep 5 points of pressure.

Excellent form. Anyone who is serious about their bench should learn to do it properly like this.
