Before CAD, Architect wrote like this. A handwriting everyone could understand.

Those guides were only used by the noobs who never learned to do it freehand btw.

It's always better to have manual knowledge for when digital fails! 🫡🇺🇸

Precisely! Personally, am so good at that.

Fond memories Kroy lettering on mylar

My drafting teacher would have bruised my knuckles if I didn’t do it by hand - for real by hand - not this stuff. Ha ha.

We used stencils during our first year bcz we drew plans manually

I think I still have that tool in my collection of drafting equipment from back in the day

Wow.. you must have been a great record holder

I took drafting in high school, we did it by hand

That's a cool video of the old days of drafting. So glad to not have to manually write out title blocks anymore

I remember back in the days they forced us to write like this at technical school without any tools. First on special paper, then on normal paper. 40 years later I forgot how to use pencil ;)

I remember taking mech. drawing in high school. We had to print like that freehand. You couldn't pause once you started because the ink would make a small dot on the paper and Mr Wilson would make you start over. Over 40 years on and I still print like that.

No we didn't. We wrote by hand, and we did it as well or better than this contraption. The idea that we couldn't write clearly is one that could only come from a person that's never looked at actual architectural drawings.

Engineers also had to do this, mostly freehand though

I did 11 years on a drawing board, everyone did their lettering free hand, it was just a skill you had to learn. Nobody used stencils unless they were an amatuer

I want one of those.

I happy they never made us write with stencil in school projects, especially the construction drawings.

Even 25 years ago, while we were taught to work with AutoCAD R13, we were also taught to write in a standardised script at hand.

I did this from 14 to 22, I was a drawning technician aka, an slave for architects

Leroy set

Mechanicals..

I still have and use mine.

It was easier to just learn to print good than using a Leroy lettering guide. Been there, done that! 😁

We had professional draftsmen to make the finalized drawings - the engineers only needed to complete the design and proof the draftsmen's work

I wonder if just like AI, they had insufferable sucks telling them that they were real architects for using word processors?
