Anyone who argues that Islamic integration will happen just like the Irish and Italians is wrong. It’s not that easy. High in-marriage rates, ethnic/ummah enclaves, and a high social cost for leaving a faith significantly hinder integration. In geographically clustered devout Muslim communities, collectivism and honor-shame orientation prevail. An individual cannot leave the religion, marry outside the community, or adopt a Western lifestyle without life-altering consequences. Integration is a leftist unicorn — we hear about it, but it is not real in the majority of Muslim communities.
