Remembering INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, who passed away today in 1997 at the age of 37. Here is Michael with INXS performing "Never Tear Us Apart" live at Wembley Stadium, 1991. They sound exactly the same as on the record. Unbelievable.

On this day, November 22, 1997, Michael Hutchence, lead singer of INXS, was found dead in a Sydney hotel room. He was 37. The coroner ruled it suicide. Hutchence and Bono were close friends through much of the 80s and early 90s. They partied together, vacationed as families, and often stayed at each other’s houses. Bono has described Hutchence as one of his best friends during that period. By the mid-90s the friendship had cooled, mainly because of Hutchence’s increasing drug use. Bono and Ali kept their distance and later turned down Hutchence’s request to be godparents to his daughter, Tiger Lily. After Hutchence’s death, Bono wrote “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of” as a conversation he wished he’d had with his friend—urging him not to give up. Before his death, Hutchence had written an unreleased song called “Slide Away.” Posthumously, Bono sang over it, where he dreams of catching his friend from falling and finding him wings to fly. 📽️ “Slide Away” by Michael Hutchence and Bono

People toss around the word “iconic” so loosely today. But Britney truly was ICONIC 💖 We will never see a 19 yo girl taking the stage with an intricate hard choreography, a real tiger and a python around her neck on a live show for millions of people & debuting the song with such an experimental sound at the f*cking VMAs! Like think about how brave and fearless she was. And to this day, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY has topped this performance! You may like your fave and adore everything they do, but the amount of courage, details, stage presence, art design, costume, choreo and excellence that is in this performance is UNMATCHED! Period.

In 1983, Michael Jackson glided across the stage and debuted the moonwalk! The moonwalk wasn’t just a dance move. It was a shift in pop culture. It was the most amazing and iconic move that became his signature moment. Michael Jackson became a dance enigma that night. Did you watch that extraordinary moment?

Question for the girls and the gays. What is about Michael Hutchence that made him so jaw droppingly sexy as a performer? Is it the stillness? Is it the confidence mixed with the intensity of his singing? He’s so spellbinding to watch and I can’t figure out exactly why.
