Before Google. Before YouTube walkthroughs. Before Reddit threads... You called Nintendo. A real human picked up, and told you where to go and what to do. That's it. That was the tech support. That was the entire internet. Those were the days. What game did you actually call about?

In 1987 Nintendo had a hotline you could call if you were stuck on a level in a Nintendo game.

Kenny: "I think I'm good at this game (BO7)" Skyz said the same thing during BO6 after getting dropped from LAG and picked up by OpTic. Kenny, you are ass. When you’re drop 0.6s in the biggest matches, the scrutiny is coming. Leave the game before the game leaves you.

The craziest thing about THAT THING YOU DO! (1996) is that the title song was written for a fictional one-hit wonder band and somehow ended up feeling like a real hit from the 1960s. One listen and it’s stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Pauline Hanson says that Anthony Albanese should have picked up the phone to Donald Trump and offered Australian assistance to the conflict in Iran. “Pick up and the phone and ask how can we support you” That’s what “mates do” Albo’s not a mate. He’s a slime ball.

Physiognomy is a real thing. Notice how the only one you'd really think is a near-worthless human specimen is the one with the obvious, expected reaction. 🤷

Your first million proves one thing - you solved a real problem. After that? It’s all execution. Then comes the real game: acquisitions. Buy your competitors, integrate, cut costs, and scale. That’s how you build a massive company.

I know I have talked about this before, but whoever came up with the before the Nintendo Direct animation and music needs a raise. The whole thing is so soothing.

A girl riding a scooty dropped her phone on the road. An auto’s tyre ran over it, breaking the screen guard. A biker riding behind her saw it, stopped the cars, picked up the phone and handed it back to her. He saved her phone from getting fully damaged and she didn’t even say thank you 🙄

In 1997 the internet was still a strange new world for most people, and simple tutorial videos like this one had to explain how to open a browser, search for information, and even send a message online. Millions of households were connecting for the first time through slow dial-up modems that tied up the phone line, exploring a much smaller and quieter web than the one we know today. Looking back, these videos capture a real turning point when the internet was not something people grew up with, but something they had to learn how to use.
