Forensic Science is the Backbone of Successful Prosecution. No matter how meticulously we investigate a crime, the case can still fail in court without strong scientific evidence and quality forensic reports. Today, I distributed appointment orders to 57 newly recruited personnel of the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory at our FSL headquarters. I urged the recruits to upgrade their capabilities in line with the new criminal laws, which place greater emphasis on scientific and technology driven investigation. Forensic reports form the backbone of charge sheets and play a decisive role during trial unless evidence is properly collected, analyzed and presented in court, offenders may escape punishment despite thorough police work. I advised them to develop a strong understanding of court procedures, evidence handling and documentation and to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and scientific integrity. With narcotics, cybercrime and financial fraud cases rising rapidly, forensic expertise has never been more critical. Until now, our FSL functioned with just 38 personnel, leading to delays in report submission. I'm pleased that among the 57 recruits, 36 hold Ph.Ds and 15 hold M.Techs their academic strength will significantly boost our lab's scientific capacity and help reduce pendency. I assured continued support in providing modern equipment and infrastructure, and called upon the new officers to work with dedication and scientific temperament to strengthen the criminal justice system. Director Shikha Goel informed that recruits will undergo a five month training programme, with our FSL currently maintaining a case disposal rate of around 80% and POCSO reports issued within two months. #TelanganaPolice

Advancing Forensic Infrastructure, Empowering Justice! ⚖️✨ Performed Bhoomipujan of the New Regional Forensic Science Laboratory building in Nagpur. Forensic labs are not just about science; they’re pillars of justice. The new criminal laws — Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam — place forensic evidence at the centre. Today, Maharashtra’s conviction rate stands at 54%. As we move towards becoming a developed economy, our goal is to reach 90% and that’s why we’ve created India’s most advanced Cyber Forensic setup right here in Maharashtra — so effective that other States are now looking to replicate it. Mobile forensic labs will be game-changers — reaching crime scenes faster, gathering on-site evidence, and speeding up investigations. I’m proud to share that the forensic department’s efficiency rose by 22% in 2024 compared to 2023. Regional Forensic Science Laboratories will soon adopt a more citizen-centric approach, along with the use of blockchain technology — a move that will bring greater speed and transparency to the process of establishing evidence and delivering justice on time. Also inaugurated Three Newly operational State-level projects — the Centre of Excellence in Pune, the Semi-Automated System in Mumbai, and Phase II of laboratory digitisation across Maharashtra.
