Bengal has conditioned itself to accept every wrong as normal. Footpath encroachment is illegal and criminal, it deprives pedestrians of the space meant for them and puts their safety at risk. It's basic civic sense. TMC-CPIM for years has encouraged this culture of lawlessndss to become a norm.

A differently-abled man is forced to ride his tricycle on the very edge of the footpath because it has been completely encroached upon by local vendors. While trying to squeeze through the narrow space, he loses balance and falls. This is the reality in India. Even footpaths are not safe or accessible for the people who actually need them the most. Encroachment everywhere, zero enforcement, and complete neglect of basic civic responsibility. A country that cannot even keep its footpaths clear for a differently-abled person should seriously question its claims of development. Sometimes it feels like nothing will ever change in this third-world chaos.

WATCH | Hello Crime Watch, please post this for me. In Kuwadzana 6, the City of Harare has left a very deep open sewage pit footpath that is used daily by pedestrians and cyclists.
