Berlin has been living without electricity and heating for five days: "Today is the fifth day of a large-scale power outage in Berlin, and officially, this is the longest power outage in the German capital since the Second World War. And yes, it's currently minus six degrees in the mornings, so people are freezing in their homes. According to the Berlin police, there have been an increase in burglaries, with robbers trying to break into people's homes or businesses, as well as robbing ATMs. The city's energy system was attacked, presumably by a left-extremist group called Vulkangruppe. They claim to be fighting against the rich and climate change by destroying infrastructure. Sometimes when I go out to eat, I like to look around and see what other people are eating, that way I can maybe get an idea for what I want too. I’ve seen this firsthand too many times. You see a family out with young kids. And there is a good amount of food there so you smile approvingly, those kids about to eat good. Then you see the parents are giving the kids scraps pretty much while they are loading up on high priced items. How can anyone ignore a child’s request for food too, could you eat steak and lobster and seafood while your kids are eating cheese and crackers from a charcuterie board while cutting grapes in half?

People wear layers of warm clothes indoors and place firebricks on gas stoves, trying any way they can to heat their apartments. It is just as hard for animals; even for them, enduring the constant cold is a struggle. It is a relief when an apartment has gas, but many high-rise buildings don’t even have that. This winter has proven to be much colder and more difficult than expected, and as it turns out, we were completely unprepared for it. The state of Ukraine’s energy grid is critical. Today, due to russian strikes, Kyiv and seven other regions are without power. In the capital, some buildings are still without heat. In Zaporizhzhia, over 30,000 people have been left without electricity. The current attacks on urban infrastructure pose a real threat to human life. The russians are using the severe cold as yet another psychological weapon against Ukrainians! This is not a movie, this is one of Zimbabwe’s five biggest central hospitals, Chitungwiza Hospital, located about twenty kilometres outside Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare. It did not have electricity last night, something that has now become a regular issue, according to doctors at the hospital. Patients, doctors, and nurses, as you can see, were using mobile phone torches last night to navigate the hospital’s wards and surroundings. This hospital is a referral hospital for an entire province, Mashonaland East, and a town, Chitungwiza, with a combined population of 2.3 million people. Yet there was no power, and this has now become standard practice! This is the level of failure caused by incompetence and corrupt rule in Zimbabwe. When we raise these things, we are called names for stating things that are obvious to an average mind, and demanding things that affect everyone regardless of political party affiliation. How can a referral hospital for 2.3 million Zimbabweans run without power and the rulers continue as if there is nothing wrong with it? How can a central hospital run without power when there is equipment that requires power 27/7 to keep patients alive?

Kyiv region is experiencing a blackout following a Russian strike on December 27. Russia is trying to create a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine, to torment civilians, especially the most vulnerable people - the elderly, the sick, the babies. ▪️ Vyshhorod, in northern Kyiv region, has been without electricity for four days now. About 30,000 people live in the city. For most residents, power has been out since the attack and has yet to be restored. In modern residential complexes that rely entirely on electricity, elevators are not working, water has to be carried by hand, and cooking is only possible in homes with gas or private generators. People are trying to help each other out. Neighbors with gas stoves invite others to cook, local chat groups offer access to power outlets, warm rooms, and assistance for elderly residents. People share portable chargers, charging stations, and extension cables. Groups of residents gather to charge their devices in supermarkets, cafés, gas stations, and other places where electricity is available thanks to generators. In the first hours of the Russian attack, everything went out at once: electricity, water, and heating. Heat supply was partially restored relatively quickly, but remains intermittent. In buildings with electric boiler systems, the situation is critical - without power, neither pumps nor heating systems can operate. As of the morning of December 30, around 9,500 families in Vyshhorod remain without electricity and exposed to cold temperatures. Emergency services and volunteers have installed high-capacity generators near residential buildings, helping maintain heat in at least 22 apartment blocks. Water is supplied on a limited schedule - in the morning and evening - while gas supply remains stable. Energy workers are operating around the clock, but the damage caused by Russia to local infrastructure is severe. Earlier, officials gave tentative restoration deadlines - first December 30, then December 31. However, residents say these dates have already been postponed several times. The situation remains difficult in other parts of Kyiv region, including Boryspil and Brovary districts. On the left bank of Kyiv, emergency outages are still in effect, as attempts to return to scheduled power cuts are disrupted by network overloads. The Ministry of Energy reports that over the past week more than 40 targeted Russian attacks on energy facilities have been recorded, along with over 100 instances of damage. This is what our society has become—cruel even to little kids, stealing their childhood away because of corruption, misgovernance and incompetence! How can any society with a moral compass allow this to happen in a country where cabinet ministers have six cars each parked outside their homes, courtesy of the taxpayer? How can any sane politician know this is happening and yet say NOTHING about it? At this age, this boy should be playing with his toys or reading a book at home. This is how generational poverty is transferred—you deny one generation an opportunity, and their progeny will live in abject poverty. We have solutions to fix these problems, but they do not suit politicians because they would mean an end to corruption and the hiring of incompetent people! As the saying goes, those with ideas have no power, those with power have no ideas except looting and plundering! Every respectable and sane Zimbabwean ought to be embarrassed and shamed by this, it is our collective responsibility to put an end to this!

Because of Russian shelling, the plant has been cut off from power, disconnected from the electrical grid, and is being supplied with electricity by diesel generators. This is extraordinary. The generators and the plant were not designed for this, have never operated in this mode for long, and we already have information that one generator has failed. It is Russian shelling that prevents repair of the power lines to the plant and the restoration of basic safety. This is a threat to everyone – no terrorist in the world has ever dared to do to a nuclear plant what Russia is doing. And it is right that the world does not stay silent.

I’m standing here today in Kyiv, outside one of the emergency tents that have been set up across the city. They’re here because Russia has once again targeted Ukraine’s power plants. Large parts of Kyiv are without electricity, without water, without heat. In the middle of winter. These tents are now places where people can come to stay warm, to charge phones, and to receive food. Deep gratitude to World Central Kitchen for distributing meals—because for many families, cooking at home is impossible when there is no power, no water, no heat. Civilian infrastructure is being deliberately targeted in an attempt to freeze a city into submission. And yet—Kyiv stands. The mood here is one of resilience. Of quiet determination. Of people helping one another, enduring, refusing to break. Ukraine stands. Thank you to everyone around the world who continues to support Ukraine during these most challenging times—during what is one of the coldest winters in many years. Your solidarity matters. It is felt here, every day. We continue to stand united.

American lives in northern Indian in a small ranch brick home The power company in their area said to expect bills to increase Last month her bill was $206 This month it’s $810 “How can they possibly get away with this? Everybody in the area is talking about protesting, shutting off their heat — I just want to know how they can get away with this. They are price gouging the American people. There's no repercussions. Another electrically supercharged storm rolled across Pennsylvania last night, with emergency tornado alerts being sent off at dusk, and the end result was power was knocked out for more places. Here is another video of some of the damage from the July 4th storm of fury. Crews are working hard to restore access to the grid for tens of thousands, and cleanup has begun, but a lot of people are very shaken up from this ordeal. Nothing like this has been experienced in Central PA in a loooong time. All-time historic long-duration heat record was set for Philly from this heat dome. Based on what we're observing geophysically, welcome to the new normal.

Strongly condemn the attack on Mahaa News by BRS goons, led by KCR’s son #TappingTillu This is not just an attack on a building—it is an attack on Freedom of the Press. BRS always preaches about journalism. Is this how you show it? By sending people to damage a Media office? When you were in power, your supporters spread lies and abused many of us. Did we ever send mobs to your doors? And what happened to the days when Mahaa News supported you ? Is this how you treat those who once stood with you ? This attack is a clear attempt to distract from the TV anchor’s suicide, where persons associated with BRS are being accused of abetment. Shame on you for using fear to cover up your guilt. You can break cameras, not truth. You can silence voices, not questions. You can attack a channel, but not journalism. This is not just wrong - it’s a crime. And the people are watching. We demand Congress govt to immediately take action against those involved in attack.
