A professional poker player found a manufacturing flaw on the back of a deck of casino playing cards. He used it to win $19 MILLION at two casinos on two continents. Courts on both continents ruled it was cheating and made him give almost all of it back. – Phil Ivey is a ten-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. – Widely considered one of the best professional gamblers alive. – In April 2012 he booked a private high-stakes baccarat session at the Borgata in Atlantic City. – He wired a $1 MILLION deposit up front. – He made specific requests. A private pit, a Mandarin-speaking dealer. – His guest Kelly Sun seated beside him. One single deck of purple Gemaco cards for the entire session. An automatic shuffler. – The Borgata agreed to all of it. – Sun had spotted something. Certain decks had a tiny factory defect. A slightly uneven diamond pattern on the card backs. – She asked the dealer to rotate specific high-value cards 180 degrees. – Told him it was superstition. For luck. – It wasn't luck. – Once enough key cards were flipped, she and Ivey could read the edge of the next card in the shoe before it was dealt. – Ivey bet accordingly. – Four visits to the Borgata in 2012 and he won $9.6 MILLION. – Same trick, different casino. – Crockfords in London. Just under £8 MILLION was won playing punto banco. – Crockfords caught the pattern and refused to pay. – Ivey sued them, he argued it wasn't cheating, just exploiting how the casino chose to deal. – The case reached the UK Supreme Court. All five judges ruled against him. – They said he took deliberate steps to fix the deck. – Meanwhile, the Borgata had already paid him his $9.6 MILLION back in 2012. – Once they found out how, they sued to get it back. – A US court ruled it wasn't technically fraud. But it broke New Jersey's Casino Control Act. – Ivey was ordered to repay $10,130,000. – He appealed. The Borgata spent years trying to actually collect, at one point seizing his winnings at the World Series of Poker. – In July 2020, eight years after the first hand was dealt. Ivey and the Borgata settled. Terms never made public. He never touched a card, never marked one. He just asked a dealer to turn a few of them around "for luck." Two countries' highest courts still called it a con.

BREAKING: Introducing Thesis, Every 📧’s annual conference dedicated to answering the most important question in AI: What does great human work look like after automation? We believe there is a small group of humans who already know the answer to this question because they’re living it every day. But they're scattered across companies and industries, with few opportunities to learn from each other. That’s why we’re throwing Thesis November 5th, 2026 in Brooklyn New York. Our first speakers include: - Ivan Zhao (Ivan Zhao)—Founder and CEO, Notion - Andrew Ambrosino (Andrew Ambrosino)—Member of technical staff, Codex, OpenAI - Cat de Jong - Head of applied AI, Anthropic - Nick Thompson (nxthompson)—CEO, the Atlantic - Josh Miller (Josh Miller)—CEO and cofounder, The Browser Company - Cristobal Valenzuela (Cristóbal Valenzuela)—Co-CEO and cofounder, Runway - Lauren Reeder (Lauren Reeder)—Partner, Sequoia - Sahil Lavingia (Sahil Lavingia)—Founder, Gumroad - Riley Brown (Riley Brown)—Cofounder, Vibecode - Natalie Fratto (Natalie Fratto)—Founder and creator, Charts & Crafts - Allie Garfinkle (Allie Garfinkle)—Senior writer and editor, Fortune - Kane Kallaway (Kallaway)—Founder, Wavy Labs - Nat Eliason (Nat Eliason)—Head of Founders School, Alpha School - Kate Lee (Kate Lee)—Editor in chief, Every - Katie Parrott (Katie Parrott)—Staff writer, Every - Kieran Klaassen (Kieran Klaassen)—General manager of Cora, Every (With more very special people to announce soon!) Learn more: What to expect Thesis will feature talks, demonstrations, working sessions, office hours, and small-group conversations with builders, operators, and execs who are already using AI to do incredible human work. And, of course, you can bring your agent. Why New York New York is where the AI wave hits the beach: It's where new model capabilities meet real-world work. Because of this, it’s the best place in the world to see what happens when frontier technology leaves the lab and enters everyday life. That’s why we’re holding Thesis at Pioneer Works, a cultural center in Red Hook dedicated to blending art, science, music, and technology. Space is limited, so we’re accepting attendees by application. We’ll also livestream it for free for anyone who can’t attend in person. You should apply below. Apply to Thesis:

Brendan Eich - Co-Founder and CEO of Brave -University of Illinois Urbana-Campaign This University houses the National Center for Supercomputing Applications which has also employed Marc Andreessen. It was established via The "Black Proposal" in partnership with the National Science Foundation (inspired by the Rockefeller Foundation). -MicroUnity Founded by John Moussouris with funding from William Randolph Hearst III via Kleiner Perkins. In the early 1990s, MicroUnity was backed by over $100 million from companies like Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Motorola, and telecommunications leaders like Time Warner and John Malone at Tele-Communications Inc. MicroUnity developed its first designs in BiCMOS at a time when Intel Pentium Pro and SUN Microsystems SPARC were designed in BiCMOS. -Mosaic/Netscape It was here he worked with Marc Andreessen, Eric Bina, James Clark. While working at Netscape, Brendan Eich created JavaScript with the "approval" of Bill Joy from SUN Microsystems, according to an interview Brendan Eich did with InfoWorld. ( At first the language was called Mocha, but it was renamed LiveScript in September 1995 and finally, in a joint announcement with SUN Microsystems, it was named JavaScript in December. --SUN Microsystems Short for "Stanford University Network Microsystems", this company would eventually go on to be absorbed by Larry Ellisons Oracle, whose first client was the CIA through In-Q-Tel. Brendan never worked directly for SUN Microsystems, but the release of JavaScript was a joint venture with Netscape. -Mozilla Foundation In early 1998, Eich co-founded the free and open-source software project Mozilla with Jamie Zawinski and others, where he served as Mozilla's Chief Architect. AOL bought Netscape in 1999. After AOL shut down the Netscape browser unit in July 2003, Eich helped spin out the Mozilla Foundation. The Mozilla Foundation would include Joichu Ito, former head of the MIT Media Lab, who was forced to resign due to his business dealings with Jeffery Epstein. Mozilla would also include MIT Media Labs Reid Hoffman, who also had a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Hoffman was an early investor in OpenAI and Facebook (he even introduced Mark Zuckerberg and Peter Thiel). Hoffman attended Stanford University (same as Thiel), is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Bilderberg Group, and The Defense Innovation Board. Hoffman joined Apple Computer in 1994, was a member of PayPal's Board of Directors at the time it was founded, founder of LinkedIn (in which Thiel has invested). Hoffman also co-founded Endeavor Global with Linda Rottenberg (fellow CFR Member) who is part of the World Economic Forum. Endeavor Global is partnered with both the WEF and Klaus Schwabs "The Schwab Foundation". Hoffman serves on the Board of Bill Gates Microsoft, and also donates to Bill Gates Foundation "The Giving Pledge". -Palantir According to CrunchBase, Brendan Eich is an Advisor at Peter Thiel's Palantir. Palantir is obviously involved in too much to name here for now, but should be noted that Peter Thiel had previous business relationships with both Jeffrey Epstein and former PM of Israel Ehud Barak, and Thiel also provides Israel assistance in it's Genocide of Gaza and Global Surveillance Programs. Peter Thiel is also a member of the Bilderberg Group alongside Hoffman, as well as Palantirs CEO Alex Karp. Karp and Thiel also partner with the WEF. -Box Box is an online file sharing and cloud content management service offering unlimited storage, custom branding, and administrative controls. Brendan is also listed as a member of their Advisory Board. Box received funding from both General Atlantic, and KKR & Co. KKR & Co. is co-headed by Ken Mehlman, who was a member of the Bush Administration, is a member of Mark Zuckerbergs Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, also sits on the Council on Foreign Relations, he was 62nd Chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2005 to 2007. In 2007, Bush appointed Mehlman to a five-year term on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. He also participated in anti-Proposition 8 Fundraising alongside Peter Thiel. Mehlman also serves as chairman of the American Investment Council, and is co-Chairman of the American Enterprise Institute's National Council. --American Enterprise Institute is tied to Purdue Pharma, and was the primary outlet for Sally Satel to run PR on behalf of Purdue to help cover up the Opioid Crisis. It was here that she wrote stories that attempted to steer the narrative on the Opioid Crisis, often blaming victims for their addictions, recommending increasing doses regularly, and even attempted to have the age of prescription for OxyContin lowered to 11 years old. (JD Vance has also worked with AEI in the past, and specifically selected Sally Satel to head his anti-Opioid Campaign, "Our Ohio Renewal". This took place after the Sackler Family and Purdue had been criminally charged for their role in the Opioid Crisis and are receiving a $7.4 billion dollar settlement, in which Purdue had plead guilty in 2007 for.) -Brave Software Responsible for the Brave Web Browser, Brave Software received seed funding from Peter Thiel's VC Firm Founders Fund, as well as Dan Moreheads Pantera Capital (Pantera Capital has also contributed to Paradigm Operations LP, alongside funding from Sam Bankman-Frieds Alameda Research, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Marc Andreessen. Paradigm was founded by Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam and Sequoia Capital Partner Matt Huang.) -Netscape & Excite Marc Andreessen and Brendan Eich have worked together at Mosaic/Netscape, but Netscape also partnered with another company called Excite. Excite originally started as Architext in June 1993 in Cupertino, California, created by Graham Spencer, Joe Kraus, Mark VanHaren, Ryan McIntyre, Ben Lutch and Martin Reinfried, who were all students at Stanford University. In January 1995, Vinod Khosla, a former Stanford student and partner at venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, arranged a US $250,000 "first round" backing for the project, with US $1.5 million provided over a ten month period. Excite also received funding from Intuit, the company that owns TurboTax and Credit Karma, which was started by Tom Proulx and Scott Cook of Stanford. Eventually John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins joined them, along with funding from Kleiner Perkins. John Doerr is also a Stanford Alumni, whose namesake is on the "Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability". John Doerr is also part of the Presidents Countil on Jobs and Competitiveness. In January 1996, George Bell joined Excite as its CEO. George Bell works with General Catalyst Partners, and is a member of the Trust for Public Land, which is responsible for projects like the "Virgin Islands National Park Expansion". (Jeffrey Epsteins "Little Saint James Island" was infamously located in the Virgin Islands.) Excite also purchased a search engine called "Magellan", which was founded by Isabel Maxwell, the daughter of Robert Maxwell, and sister of Ghislane Maxwell. Joe Kraus from Excite would go on to work with Google, investing in various projects both personally and through his time at Google Ventures Management Company LLC. He's invested in companies like Uber, CoinBase (Co-Founded by Brian Armstrong from IBM and Member of Bill Gates, "The Giving Pledge" and Fred Ehrsam from Goldman Sachs), Nest, 23AndMe, (Anne Wojicki, who attended Jeffrey Epsteins "The Edge" Conference with her future husband and Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin, as well as Larry Page, Googles other Co-Founder, and whose sister Susan Wojiciki resided over YouTube for years for claiming that Google started in her garage), and a company called CrowdStrike (yes that one). Joe Kraus also invested in "The Climate Corporation" which belongs to Monsanto. Charles Allen Thomas of MIT, Transylvania University, and the National Research Committee (mostly MIT) was pivotal in Monsanto's "success".

I was asked to write a bio of myself on SportsRecruits. I wanted share what I wrote. I love this one and those in it. • • • OLYMPIC DREAMS. I was 12 years old when I lost my starting position at shortstop, and lost my way into the batting lineup as well. I know it sounds silly being at such a young age, but to me; at the time, it was devastating. If not for my faith in God and my family… I’m not sure if I would be here writing this bio of mine. Hello! My name is Grace Varua. I am 16 years old and currently a sophomore at Pope John High School in Sparta, NJ. I started playing softball when I was 7 years old (video) When I am not playing High School softball Pope John Softball I play for Unity Torres 2028 primarily as a catcher and 3B as my secondary. MY hopes; after you have read, is to feel who I am through this quick bio of myself. Hence, the reason why I started this bio the way I did. A quick backdrop to my story. When this all happened at 12 years old, I wasn’t quite sure how to handle it. I was broken. My parents made it super simple for me. My choices were to quit or get back to work and prove to myself and to “the world” that my story was not finished. My parents have also taught me, that having goals or being goal oriented is super important. Goals give us a sense of purpose or meaning while we sweat and work hard. Goals gives myself an opportunity to plan and stay organized. Most importantly, goals gives myself perspective in paying respect to the time and effort given to me by my coaches, players of my team and parents. Goals keep me disciplined to fight through when I’m tired and all I want to do is rest and pack it in. So I picked a goal that I felt would represent the pinnacle of my sport. That being, to be a member of USA’s Women’s Olympic National Team. USA Softball Women's National Team 🇺🇸 Some may say a far-fetched goal, but I think otherwise. I was taught the philosophy of the 100 hour rule. Roughly 18 minutes a day training for 1 year. Gives myself the opportunity to outperform 95% of the population in my craft. Whether that stands true or not. This philosophy is more about staying disciplined. I can humbly and honestly say, I exceed that 18 minutes and then-some for the reason of hoping to represent my country one day. I’ve been able to catch some of the best youth pitchers in the game of club softball right now. Like Sydney Gonglik (LSU committ) Madelyn Vogan (Penn State committ) Mackenzie Herzog 2028 (Alabama Thunderbolts Premier ‘27) Future big time pitchers Lucy Reis 2029 and Lila Manfredonia 2028 (Ohio Outlaws Wolff/Acord ‘28) Anna Jane (AJ) Jarzab (Beverly Bandits ‘09 Lewis/ Moran) Liv Cilli (Providence Committ), Reese Tobey (UMass committ) and all my current pitchers on UNITY Torres ‘28 Joselyn Bermudez 2028, Adrianna Bryce ,Maddie Falvey 2028 , Gabby Gomez Gabby Perez and OliviaMVidela2028 It has been a blessing to work side by side with all of them. I am the catcher today because of them, my coaches and trainers. I am so thankful to each and every one of them. I have achieved and experienced some awesome things at my age. I made my High School Varsity team as a freshman, was a freshman 1st team All-Conference player, I hit back to back home-runs to help Pope John get to, and win our NJ County Championship in 2025. I am a 4x USA HPP (High Performance Program) invite, USA Softball’s 15U Top Performer and 15U National Team Member. I traveled, played and trained overseas in Paris and the Netherlands. I have a 3.9 G.P.A, I have an amazing older sister and younger brother. I have the best parents in the world and I have GOD with me each and every step of the way through this journey! I am blessed and so grateful!
