Bulldozer Action on Muslim Minority Homes in Assam* JUH Delegation Visits Affected Areas in Goalpara District, Submits Memorandum to Assam Government Demanding Immediate Rehabilitation and Compensation* New Delhi/Goalpara, 15 July 2025:Acting on the direction of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, a high-level delegation of the organization today visited the Goalpara district of Assam, where a recent demolition drive by the state government resulted in the destruction of 3,973 houses in the Ashudubi and Hasilabil areas. Most of the displaced families belong to the Bengali-origin Muslim minority. It is worth noting that Jamiat Ulama Assam has stepped in to provide immediate relief, setting up temporary shelters (tents) for the displaced families and initiating efforts to support the affected population. The delegation met with affected families, visited the demolition sites, and assessed the on-ground humanitarian situation. Deeply moved by the scale of displacement and suffering, the delegation extended assurance of all possible support from the organization. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, through the District Magistrate, calling the demolition drive inhuman, unconstitutional, and driven by religious discrimination. The memorandum highlighted that demolition was selectively carried out in Muslim-majority areas, particularly targeting Bengali-origin Muslim residents, while similar settlements of other communities remained untouched—an alarming case of state bias and discrimination. The memorandum also noted that many of the affected families have been residing in these areas for over 70 to 80 years, and are legitimate Indian citizens, many of whom were earlier displaced by erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River. Evicting them without due process violates legal rights, constitutional protections, and Supreme Court directives. In several cases, the demolitions were allegedly executed to serve private or industrial interests, with no prior notice given to the occupants. The rest of the speech followed the "green energy" fairy tale trajectory of her predecessor, with an emphasis on investing in solar energy and battery storage. Here’s the problem: solar and battery storage are SUPPLEMENTS, not primary power sources. Solar works when the sun's out, but the grid needs power 24/7. This may shock and surprise some, but NJ is not Texas so any comparison is completely invalid. And batteries don’t generate electricity; they store excess solar for a few hours and cost billions to build. Most store 2–4 hours of power, next generation shoots for 6–10 hours. A 24-hour battery grid is still theoretical. Here is a comparison of power reliability rates: Solar — about 8% Offshore wind — 40–50% Natural gas — 80%+ Nuclear — up to 95% Meanwhile, PJM (the regional grid operator) warned us that by 2030, the region could lose about 40 gigawatts of reliable power generation (while replacing less than half of it).Since March, there has at least been some movement on the nuclear front in NJ, but on natural gas? Mostly lip service so far. We keep hearing about storage, batteries and demand management. Great story. Where's the generation?
