Bulldozer Action on Muslim Minority Homes in Assam* JUH Delegation Visits Affected Areas in Goalpara District, Submits Memorandum to Assam Government Demanding Immediate Rehabilitation and Compensation* New Delhi/Goalpara, 15 July 2025:Acting on the direction of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, a high-level delegation of the organization today visited the Goalpara district of Assam, where a recent demolition drive by the state government resulted in the destruction of 3,973 houses in the Ashudubi and Hasilabil areas. Most of the displaced families belong to the Bengali-origin Muslim minority. It is worth noting that Jamiat Ulama Assam has stepped in to provide immediate relief, setting up temporary shelters (tents) for the displaced families and initiating efforts to support the affected population. The delegation met with affected families, visited the demolition sites, and assessed the on-ground humanitarian situation. Deeply moved by the scale of displacement and suffering, the delegation extended assurance of all possible support from the organization. A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, through the District Magistrate, calling the demolition drive inhuman, unconstitutional, and driven by religious discrimination. The memorandum highlighted that demolition was selectively carried out in Muslim-majority areas, particularly targeting Bengali-origin Muslim residents, while similar settlements of other communities remained untouched—an alarming case of state bias and discrimination. The memorandum also noted that many of the affected families have been residing in these areas for over 70 to 80 years, and are legitimate Indian citizens, many of whom were earlier displaced by erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River. Evicting them without due process violates legal rights, constitutional protections, and Supreme Court directives. In several cases, the demolitions were allegedly executed to serve private or industrial interests, with no prior notice given to the occupants. The memorandum strongly demanded immediate rehabilitation and compensation for all affected families, utilization of government khas land available in Assam for relocation, provision of interim relief, including food and shelter, until permanent arrangements are made Preliminary Fact-Finding Report: Jamiat Ulama Assam According to a preliminary report submitted by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal (President, Jamiat Ulama Assam) and Hafiz Bashir Ahmad Qasmi (General Secretary), the demolition drives from November 2023 to July 2025 have affected a total of 8,115 families across Goalpara, Dhubri, and Nalbari districts, displacing more than 32,530 individuals, including women, children, and the elderly. The report further documents the demolition of 21 mosques, 44 maktabs/madrasas, and 9 Eidgahs, reflecting the disproportionate targeting of religious and community institutions. While Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has initiated relief efforts by providing food, shelter, and medical aid, the current resources are inadequate to meet the scale of the crisis. What’s even more heart-wrenching is the pathetic plight of innocent Dalits, Adivasis (tribals), and the poor, who have been living here for over 40 Years. . These are not encroachers they are rightful residents, living with dignity on public land for generations with ration cards, adhar cards, legitimate electircity connections and other civic amenities. In 2021, Shri Revanth Reddy Revanth Reddy, in the capacity of #TPCC President, visited Basavatarakam Nagar and publicly assured these communities that he would grant them pattas (land rights) if voted to power. But today, in a brazen opportunistic manner, his govt reportedly colluded with the land grabbers and forgot his promises. As a result, barbaric goondas and rowdies, backed by real estate mafia aided few powerful leaders in govt , launched violent attacks on residents, demolished their homes, and attempted to murder them in broad daylight. NJ ALREADY lost $175M on the Ørsted offshore wind gamble & despite the collapse of several major projects, Trenton continues pushing to revive offshore wind, fighting federal action in court to shut it down. The kicker is that even at full capacity, that project too would have delivered well under 20 gigawatts upon completion — less than half the power NJ actually needs. So how'd we end up here in the first place? NJ used to be an energy EXPORTER. Well, Trenton Democrats shuttered reliable power before replacements existed, so now NJ IMPORTS 35–40% of our electricity from states in our regional grid. The Dems pat themselves on the back for being “green,” while importing electricity from PA generated with much-needed fossil fuels, including coal. It gets more surreal. The same Dems assign blame to (and threaten to leave) PJM. We're importing power and acting like we hold the cards. WE DON'T (just ask Pennsylvania). And "green"? Grid batteries use lithium, cobalt, nickel and other mined minerals, produced through massive industrial extraction & chemical processing. They're ridiculously expensive to build and a disposal nightmare. Is this what they call environmentally-friendly “green energy”? Now look at the budget shell game. The budget highlights spending tied to the Clean Energy Fund ($700M a year) and RGGI (roughly $80–100M annually). Those funds don’t come from Trenton. They come from YOU — surcharges you already pay for, built into your electric bill (don't forget! Over the years, billions of dollars have been diverted out of the Clean Energy Fund to plug other holes in the state budget.) THE GAME IN THE NUTSHELL: Raise your rates. Collect the money through RGGI and Clean Energy Fund charges. Hand a sliver back as a “utility credit.” Smile big at the press conference with your climate activist crew. As the Governor & Majority party celebrate "clean energy" budget spending, understand that most of it is just recycling money you've paid in your electric bill. This budget STILL gambles on “green energy.” With your wallet. SIDEBAR: During the campaign, Mikie Sherrill promised to "freeze electric rates." Fun fact: as Governor, her Executive Order didn’t freeze anything. It "urged" the Board of Public Utilities to "consider" taking action. 🚨 UPDATE: HOMELESS VETERAN FINDS A HOME! 🚨 I am beyond thrilled to share some incredible news about Carl, the homeless veteran we've rallied around since before Christmas After being left to fend for himself in the freezing cold by a council that did too little, too late, Carl's fortunes have turned around. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we've managed to secure Carl a new flat he can truly call home! 🍻 I was contacted by another veteran, shaun a former Royal Navy man who buys and renovates properties. He also converts vans into high quality campervans. Seeing my posts on X, he stepped up with an offer we couldn't refuse - a property ready for Carl. Today, we visited the flat together, and I am overjoyed to announce that Carl now has the keys to his new home. Massive thank you to Andrew Tate for his generous donation which provided Carl with a warm hotel stay over Christmas, giving him temporary respite from the harsh winter streets. Your contribution has been a beacon of hope when we needed it most. Thank you Robert Henry for all your help and support mate 💙 To everyone who offered to donate, shared my posts, or offered words of encouragement, your support has made this possible. Your collective efforts have changed a man's life. However, this victory is bittersweet.
