Nobody wants these in their backyard. I went to Virginia to see what unchecked data center development looks like. The noise. The sprawl. The communities forced to live with the consequences. Now, after taking money from Big Tech, Big Data, and utility interests, Byron Donalds wants to build them on Florida’s pristine lands. As governor, I’ll enact a moratorium on data centers. Florida’s land, water, power grid and communities are not for sale.

“BACKWARDS AND POOR”: TRUMP’S MESSAGE TO TOWNS THAT REJECT DATA CENTERS President Trump says communities that reject data centers are choosing to be “backward and poor.” He calls them the “golden goose” and argues China “could not be happier” to see Americans push back against the AI buildout. The message is clear: stop asking questions. Accept the data centers in your community, or you are helping Beijing win. But public opposition is growing across party lines. Communities are raising concerns about water use, power demand, land, and the local cost of a massive AI infrastructure boom. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says those concerns are foreign propaganda. “Data centers don’t use water,” he claims. That is a major reversal from Lutnick’s own position last year, when he acknowledged that data centers “suck water.” Now, anyone who says the same is accused of repeating enemy propaganda. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory estimated that U.S. data centers directly consumed roughly 17 billion gallons of water in 2023, before the current AI buildout accelerated. Yes, America is competing with China in artificial intelligence. But invoking China should not end the conversation about what this buildout costs local communities. Mike Adams (HealthRanger) joins me to break down the data-center push, the water question, and why the China argument does not tell the whole story.

NY just became the first state to pause AI data center permits. Banning is the wrong move, here's the fix instead: 1) Build their own power - Data centers should fund their own electrical infrastructure. 2) Allow small modular nukes - During a blizzard or grid emergency, the data center has to switch power back to the grid to help residents. 3) Incentivize next-gen cooling - Offer state credits to companies developing advanced cooling tech to cut water use. 4) Set distance rules, not bans - Require data centers to sit a set distance from populated areas.
