Bizarre! What kind of explanation is this? How can anyone editing a file on their personal computer change the electoral rolls held by the ECI and prevent people from voting? Shocking that the CEC, an IIT graduate, gave this explanation of a ‘machine readable’ file.

Not Modi, but the Opposition in India is impossible to second guess. ASTOUNDING U-TURN. WHAT HAPPENED TO “PRIVACY” CONCERNS? SACRIFICED AT THE ALTAR OF ELECTORAL POLITICS? In 2021, Opposition leaders raised privacy and constitutional concerns over Aadhaar-voter ID linkage. Now, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav demands that electoral rolls be linked to Aadhaar and biometric verification be made MANDATORY at every polling booth. Why? Because SP chief says duplicate entries and electoral irregularities must be curbed. But if Aadhaar linkage was a threat to privacy then what about now? PRINCIPALS OF POLITICAL CONVENIENCE?

27 lakh have been found ineligible to vote from Bengal’s adjudication list. They have all been asked to go to appellate tribunals. But the electoral rolls for Phase 1 ( April 23) have now already closed. So if the tribunal establishes that a deleted voter is in fact bonafide and he or she is a voter in Phase 1, how will they get back on the electoral rolls?
