💻 A desktop or laptop is recommended for viewing splats – better mobile support coming soon.  We wanted to get an early version of this tech in creator’s hands as soon as possible, and we’re going to continue building this in public.

Expect to see a lot of improvements, from faster processing times, to automatic floater removal, come out in the coming weeks 🔥

Open your splat from your workspace and hit download if you want to download the .ply file -- totally free for now. One of the reasons we're so excited about GS is there is emerging broad support for rendering them in a lot of 3D software, including Unity and Unreal. See this post for more options:

Rerun 0.36 is out. Gaussian splats are now in the Viewer. Log them from the SDK or drop in a PLY file, with anisotropic scale, opacity, and view-dependent color. Also: recordings larger than your RAM in the browser, multi-sink streaming, better timeline nav. 🧵

Instant Skinned Gaussian Avatars for Web, Mobile and VR Applications Short summary: In our system, we animate a background 3D mesh and have the Gaussian splats follow the mesh’s vertices. During preprocessing, splats are assigned to mesh vertices, and their relative transformations are stored. Once this data is saved, you can instantly use it in your applications without further preprocessing. At runtime, we animate the background 3D mesh, update the Gaussian splats in parallel, and resort all Gaussian splats every frame based on the viewer’s perspective.

I 3d scanned my kid, again! Time flies fast, and now he is 7 months old. It's so exciting to preserve the memory with both 3D Gaussian Splatting and the mesh at the same time. I really wish I could render something super cool in blender, but I am so bad at it.

Look at how crispy this 3d gaussian splat came out! The reflections in the painting have me floored. Captured with a Sony a7iii camera and 18mm lens. I posed the imagery using epic's reality capture and trained it with lichtfeld studio. Lichtfeld is my new favorite way to train splats -- it integrates all the latest research and it’s completely free. Also what I love about 3d capture -- you can process old datasets with new algorithms and breathe new life into them.

📢 I’m testing ViggleAI new AI tool, PINOC, and it’s seriously impressive. You can create 3D Gaussian splatting models from just one image and animate them with a video! It’s the first AI I’ve tried that can animate Gaussian splatting models. I also talked to someone from Viggle, and they might add the option to import your own Gaussian splatting models and animate them. If that happens, I’ll probably make a video tutorial showing how to boost the detail level of a Gaussian splatting model by 4x to create highly realistic animated characters.
