Bill Maher gets blindsided as MTG tells him that Obamacare has crushed the middle class. Maher couldn’t believe it. “Obamacare has crushed them? Obamacare is what’s hurt them?” he asked. Greene backed it up with how much she’s paying for health insurance since Obamacare began: “When Obamacare went into place, it took my own family of five’s health insurance policy from $800 a month to over $2,400 a month, more than our mortgage payment. And that’s what so many people have experienced over all these years.” When Maher heard this, he wanted a fact-check and asked Michael Moynihan if Obamacare really raised rates. To this, Moynihan replied: “These subsidies, they don’t do anything to lower costs. I mean, the only thing they do is mask costs,” before explaining that he’s paying $2,000 a month for health insurance just to cover two people. When Maher was finally cornered with the facts, he shifted the blame from Obamacare to people being unhealthy for rising costs.

MAHER: “I never can quite get why they take so much of my money.” ANA KASPARIAN: “Yes, talk about those f*cking taxes right now.” MAHER: “I can’t remember the last year when I didn’t give more than half [my income in taxes]… The government does confiscate a lot of money. Where is it going? Why are there still homeless [people]? And why are there still no railroads built in California? Why?” Maher finally gets it. We don’t have a taxation problem.
