It unlocks centuries of knowledge and allows you to interact with them in any way possible: search it, copy/paste it, throw it into an LLM, or whatever else! Link is below

Link: Once the first step is completed of actually digitizing it, that opens up endless possibilities. What if each of these books could be reformatted in a beautiful manner? Or exported as .epubs? Or auto-generate diagrams based on the content? The possibilities are truly endless.

@palestinianleft @ScribeTools Been in contact with @Abdella6if in the past and mA they have some great OCR work done as well. But I have noticed that their PDF option a lot of the time is scanned and to make that searchable would be beneficial!

@ScribeTools @Abdella6if Yes there are a lot of scanned pdfs in it that are not searchable. That’s why I brought it up! I have a feeling that they are just loading the books directly from Archive, but please correct me if I’m mistaken.

Mashaallah this is good brother. You should maybe try to find a way to also turn this into a sharing platform for this kind of books (just need to ensure the book is old enough to avoid copyright issues). I think it would benefit a lot of people to be able to access this knowledge through a web interface where the content is cleanly presented vs book scans. You might also get many more visitors and exposure from SEO.

@ScribeTools I found that giving these documents to an agent with an OCR skill (pretty common these days) and asking them to build a Wiki (Karpathy style) works wonders.

Definitely helps but one of the big issues with these documents is that even the LLMs are no perfect which will in turn make the output imperfect. With ScribeTools, you get a searchable pdf so you have your source data with you always available. But of course if the text is extracted then that needs to be validated

@ScribeTools Do you have any tools for translations too? The AI ones are great so far but only if you input line by line.

@ScribeTools Wow! So I tried it out with the تركيب بند of our Poet ضيا پاشا. The print is from 1928 and slightly illegible due to blurring. All in all it worked quite well. The Arabic and Persian verses worked perfect and also most Turkish parts. Just some confusion with چ/جor پ/ب.

@ScribeTools Thanks for sharing this, looks really interesting Quick question, what makes ScribeTools different from NotebookLM which can also take a PDF and extract info strictly from it? Just trying to understand the key difference to see if it fits my workflow

@ScribeTools Great question. You cant create searchable PDFs from NotebookLM. And lets say it extracts the text from the data and it has incorrect information. That's a scenario where having it as a searchable PDF so you can easily validate would be useful.

@ScribeTools Fair point! The placement was off but it correctly found where the word is. The reason is because of the way the invisible text is applied. It's something I'm working on to make more accurate but it really varies from text to text
