Bitcoin Core Insider Spills The Beans (Jon Atack)
40 条评论

Jon as a real stand-up guy, super based and very pleasant to be around.

Its funny. Jon is just validating what anyone who isn't blinded by self interests, or appeal to authority nonsense has observed for the past year+ Core continues and will continue to be the weakest part of Bitcoin.

Great piece Matthew.

For reference:

Like we needed any more reasons to believe Core's been corrupted.

Further evidence of what is pretty clear at this point: Core as an institution is totally corrupted. People who have been in any organizations likely recognize this is unlikely to be reformable. Core must be abandoned for a new, or several new, reference node implementations.

Someone should make a parody of Core devs working together, like The Office but with the woke dial up to 11.

when i did a deeper dive on core maintainers, jon was the only one that didn't raise a single red flag.

Thanks for posting the video from Jon Atack. Valuable insight.

This is terrifying. WTF.

Not surprised. Many of us had a gut feeling that core was getting infected by centralizing and political forces. Thank you for speaking out and confirming it, @jonatack. I can imagine it wasn't easy to find the right words/way to bring up this issue but you handled it very well.

Where is the full presentation? @jonatack

@jonatack

Very enlightening, and disturbing

This is insane.

I don't understand how someone can seek a position of control in a network that decouples money from state who also thinks the state should control everything including personal Healthcare decisions.

Holy Shit! Talk about learning how the sausage is made! After this bombshell, I don’t see how anyone can think that Bitcoin core is operating honestly and altruistically. After airing out this dirty laundry, they have lost all credible respect for my support.

I thought changing the definition = fixing was shocking.. This is on a whole new level. Thank God I studied Bitcoins history/ethos and my intuition recognized the human corruption

the ongoing vindication of MK/BTCU 🙏

Core-poratocracy.

Just listened and I'm struck with the thought how destructive the dei ethos was, groupthink, ack friends, nack non supportive developers, reporting a bug becoming political. Fascinating and terrifying, and happy that it's being expunged albeit slowly from our institutions. Look at what it did to Bitcoin core and hopefully it will be expunged there as well

Glad I'm running Knots.

Centralization of the BTC developer team! No longer distributed around the world. Now in America (some UK), and within America Bitcoin Core is centralized in blue states.

I am going through and following every person who liked or reposted or commented (not the dbags) on this video.

Why do you think it's a bad thing that Jon is building a development hub?

I never said that

Why are Chaincode, Localhost and Brink bad but an office in El Salvador good?

Having all of your maintainers in two blue cities like NYC and SF is not decentralization. Lots of groupthink to begin with. Forced vaxx, etc. I’m not going to walk you through Jon Atack’s entire talk

I have a lot of thoughts on this, but here are a few disjointed ones to start: - Devs in, say, the global south may not want to move to NYC, London, SF, etc. Some may also have families. And even for the willing, it can be expensive or difficult (visas?) for them to move. - It seems valuable to avoid the type of monoculture of those locations for devs who don’t fit into that social graph - Not sure offices are a good idea, if there are senior devs who don’t wish or can’t move to them. A mix of remote and offices tends to penalize those not in the office. All-remote might be better, at least for an implementation that encourages seasoned developers from all over the world. - For these reasons and others I’ve stepped back from the R&D hub idea. I do need a good, reliable, peaceful environment to work in and may be close to that soon, barring new developments..

@mattkratter @danoprey I suspect gathering young, poor and impressionable devs in certain offices was not an accident, but a deliberate plan. It makes influencing devs by third parties and exercising control over development way easier.

@jonatack @mattkratter It also makes paying, providing health care, and collaborating easier. Not everything is a conspiracy, offices exist.

sufficed it might be to say, They have been at this for way longer than any of us would ever want to admit to, and they probably have not even gotten started yet...

@ToneVays where is gloria?

😎#btc

We must not let Wokeism, Marxism, and Collectivism ruin Bitcoin. Ditch Core asap!

your audio is shite.

Everyone here that still not running Botcoin node, should do it now with BIP110.

"Atack" on Bitcoin.

Authentic @jonatack

@grok what does "spills the beans" mean in English and in the context of this post in particular?
