Let's pick apart this latest bout of misinformation from @greenpeaceusa What GreenpeaceUSA tells you: Riot provides demand response and reserve responses services to the grid. True. What GreenpeaceUSA does not tell you: IEA says that we must 10x our levels of demand response in order to meet net zero emissions. Bitcoin is the grid operators biggest chance to do this because it is more immediate, pinpoint, and long-lasting than other forms of demand response (Source: IEA + KPMG & IRM reports on the benefits of Bitcoin demand response) What GreenpeaceUSA tells you: "Riot pays 2.9c/kWh.True. What GreenpeaceUSA does not tell you: It is typical for large industrial users to pay a low rate per unit of energy. To single out Riot without mentioning this context is misleading. That's where the truth stops for GreenpeaceUSA. The second half contains the following pieces of oft-quoted myths that have been debunked by reputable third parties, and the Grid operator of Texas himself! Claims: "Bitcoin mining destabilizes the grid and drives up prices" False: Brad Jones, CEO of ERCOT (Texas grid) has repeatedly stated that Bitcoin mining has helped "counterbalance the intermittency of renewable energy, thus helping stabilize the grid". He has also said that because Bitcoin mining can uniquely utilize curtained renewable energy, it drives down the price of energy for all users in Texas. This finding was supported recently in a peer-reviewed academic paper. The Institute of Risk Management recently published a paper that agreed with this finding that Bitcoin drives down energy prices, saying it can drive down prices because “Bitcoin is a buyer of last resort for all electricity ... Were it not for Bitcoin these would have otherwise been left untapped or stranded" GreenpeaceUSA has gained a reputation for ignoring expert opinion and reputable third parties, and trusting its own sources. What's also interesting to note is that GreenpeaceUSA has now stopped claiming that Bitcoin uses coal as its main energy source, opened up coal plants, and that it used mainly fossil fuels for power. Why? Because Bloomberg Intelligence recently debunked all three claims, showing they were based on inaccurate and out of date modelling. Rather than acknowledge this fact, GreenpeaceUSA have simply pivoted their campaign into other criticisms, equally invalid, equally poorly researched. OK, now here's my real beef with GreenpeaceUSA 1. Many people have now lost faith in ALL branches of Greenpeace around the world because of your behaviors against Bitcoin. 2. You are diverting attention away from real climate issues 3. You have not showed any desire to do your own research and discover Bitcoin's ability to mitigate methane, which makes it ideally placed to be a weapon in the fight against climate change. 4. By coupling the environmental movement to ignorant activism that bypasses research, science, reputable 3rd party reports and logic - and which pivots haphazardly from one attack vector to another as each prior attempt is shown to have no rational basis you are doing a service to the environmental movement itself. The world, and the environmental movement, deserves better than that.

@CCofNavarro @RiotPlatforms You should have at least picked a better example. Gonna be pretty hard to convince people that what Riot is doing in Texas is bad. It's easily one of the most positive energy initiatives in the state and has demonstrable benefit to the community. People love Riot. Lol
