What they actually want is to erase India’s diversity and impose their own culture, language, food habits, and ideology on the entire country, turning it into a narrow, homogenized mold. If UCC is forced upon Bengal, the worst sufferers will be the Scheduled Tribe communities. Their unique traditions, customs, and hard-earned land rights will come under direct attack. This is exactly what BJP means by “Poriborton” and “Paltano Dorkar”. Not development, but the systematic erasure of what makes Bengal and its people unique.

Especially in light of our historical responsibility, we Europeans must clearly address this forced assimilation and oppose it with confidence.

The Uniform Civil Code is unacceptable as it goes against the fundamental rights granted in the Constitution, and it is detrimental to the unity and integrity of the country. We (Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind) have already approached the court against the decision to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand with the hope of receiving justice in order to uphold the Constitution of the country, democracy, and the supremacy of law. As our Constitution guarantees Right to Freedom in article 25, 26 and 29 while recognizing the fundamental rights of citizens, and the Muslim Personal Law is also protected under the Shariat Application Act of 1937. Hence, We will not accept any law that is against Shariah. Muslims can compromise on things, but they can never compromise on their Shariah and Religion. #UniformCivilCode #UCC

Tejasvi Surya (तेजस्वी सूर्या) is a native Kannada speaker from Karnataka, just as Marathi is widely spoken across Maharashtra. While regional languages are an essential part of India's cultural identity, the employees of the Government of India primarily communicate in Hindi and English — the two official languages recognized and used across all central institutions. Expecting every central government or bank employee to fluently speak the regional language of the state they’re posted in is not just unrealistic, but also unfair. Take banking, for instance — it’s a centrally administered service. Bank employees may be posted anywhere in the country, often in states where their native language is not spoken. India’s linguistic landscape is incredibly rich — dialects and accents change every few kilometers. In such a diverse setting, Hindi, understood by a majority, and English, used officially, act as common communication bridges. These employees are here to serve and assist. If there's a problem with their service, it should be addressed constructively. But criticizing or harassing them for not speaking a local language is unjust. Should a Kannada speaker be expected to speak Punjabi in Punjab, Pahari in Himachal, or Haryanvi in Haryana? Certainly not. The recent incident involving a bank employee being targeted over a language issue is deeply unfortunate. It reflects a disturbing trend — one that threatens to sow division in the name of identity. 🚨BIG | Live-in Relationship to soon not be allowed under UCC in Assam; 👇🏼: Read more In a landmark decision, the Assam Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday approved the draft Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill. The proposed legislation is scheduled to be introduced in the state Assembly on May 26. Addressing the media after the meeting, Sarma said the Cabinet discussed the UCC in detail. The UCC will not be applicable for both hills and plains regions. The code aims to establish uniform rules on marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. Key provisions include a complete ban on polygamy and child marriages, live-in relationship. The law will not enforce uniform religious practice. Practices related to worship, Namaz, temple rituals, Christian marriages, Sikh marriages, and other faith-based customs will not come under the proposed law. The move fulfills a major BJP election promise in Assam and follows the state’s 2025 anti-polygamy law.

The proposed legislation is scheduled to be introduced in the state Assembly on May 26. Addressing the media after the meeting, Sarma said the Cabinet discussed the UCC in detail. The UCC will not be applicable for both hills and plains regions. The code aims to establish uniform rules on marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. Key provisions include a complete ban on polygamy and child marriages, live-in relationship. The law will not enforce uniform religious practice. Practices related to worship, Namaz, temple rituals, Christian marriages, Sikh marriages, and other faith-based customs will not come under the proposed law. The move fulfills a major BJP election promise in Assam and follows the state’s 2025 anti-polygamy law.
