Yesterday, I called out Rahul Gandhi over the way protesters were beaten in Jharkhand. I even called him a hypocrite. But moments later, he held a press conference and posted on X, openly criticising the action against the protesters. By doing so, Rahul stood against a state government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, where Congress is an alliance partner. That is rare in Indian politics. How often do we see an ally publicly call out its own coalition government? This is what, to me, gives Rahul Gandhi his moral clarity. He has shown it time and again. The BJP is now protesting against Rahul in Parliament and demanding that he apologise for the Jharkhand incident. They want Rahul to take accountability, even though he is not the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. His party is merely an alliance partner in the state. Yet where is the accountability from Narendra Modi or Amit Shah for the brutal crackdown on students during the Delhi protest on July 28? On one side, you have Rahul Gandhi publicly criticising an ally’s government when he believes it has acted wrongly. On the other, you have a Prime Minister who expects protesters to apologise to him because some of them used abusive language against him. That is the difference.

What a YSRCP leader said about me on camera, at a public meeting was not merely an insult. It was a vile, casteist attack aimed at humiliating a woman and a Dalit holding a constitutional office. The language he used is so disgraceful that it cannot even be repeated in public. That fact alone exposes the culture YSRCP has nurtured and normalised. This is what some men do when a woman rises through her own hard work, conviction and public service. Unable to challenge her politically, they resort to abuse and intimidation. Chloe this is disgusting. You’ve made it abundantly clear you have done no research. Yes, plenty of women have a feeling of learned helplessness from being trapped in abusive relationships. It is unfortunately an all too real reality. However Kitty Menendez is NOT an example of this that should be used to empower women in those circumstances, which you’d know if you did your research. This woman sexually assaulted her own son on multiple occasions, admitted to friends, family, and her therapist that she hated her own children, and she not only allowed a man to r@pe them repeatedly from the age of 6, but she also tormented them when they came forward to her about what their father was doing. This woman was a monster, and she has equal culpability in the abuse of Erik and Lyle Menendez. Even her own sister believes so and refuses to advocate for her. Yesterday on ITV’s Loose Women , I shared about a judge threatening a rape survivor. He said that if she continued with her allegations, her child would be taken into care. It was a chilling abuse of power—and a horrific example of how deeply broken our family court system truly is. Worse still, incidents like these are not isolated. I share several examples of survivors facing harm in the courtroom in my book, He Said She Said. But family court judges operate with judicial immunity, meaning they cannot be held personally accountable, even when their decisions cause direct harm. Survivors of abuse (many already re-traumatised by the legal process) are left with no recourse when the very institution meant to protect their children instead threatens to punish them for speaking the truth. In one case I represented, a mother, a rape survivor, was forced to fight for her daughter’s safety when CAFCASS recommended unsupervised contact between the child and father, convicted serial rapist Kristoffer Paul Arthur White. Why? Because the family court system clings to the misguided presumption that a child’s contact with any parent, even one proven to be abusive, is better than no contact at all. As someone who grew up in a home shadowed by domestic abuse and alcoholism, I can say with absolute certainty: no parent is far better than an abusive one. The current system prioritises the rights of abusers to maintain control, rather than the rights of children to be safe and of mothers to be believed. This has to change. We need a family court system that listens to survivors, holds judges accountable, and stops endangering children and survivors through a pro-contact culture. We owe survivors better. We owe children better. We need to continue speaking out until the system is no longer a silent accomplice to abuse.

But because the same Supreme Court has done absolutely nothing to ensure that the Election Commission's own appointment is a non-partisan way, and given the manner in which the Election Commission behaves these days, it is absolutely true that now BJP decides who will be the voter, and on the basis of their votes, BJP will say, "We have one popular mandate." This is a complete overturning of the fundamental principle of universal adult franchise...I'm astonished that the Supreme Court of India has put its seal of approval on fundamental overturning of democratic principles."

Look at the way he responds to Saravanan Annadurai, who made a fair and constitutional demand: to use India’s common working language, English, for debate on an English news channel, so that everyone across the country can understand.
