Harrison Ford knew exactly what was needed of him in Blade Runner 2049. He understood the assignment. I always say that Blade Runner 2049 is an example (rare example) of a legacy sequel done right. Ford’s a big reason why. Unquestionably one of his best outings of the century.

Ice Age (2002) would be remembered much more fondly if it had stayed a standalone. The first film is lean, character driven, and surprisingly dry in its humor. The endless sequels inflated the tone and buried how well that original actually works.
