The Place Beyond The Pines is such a beautiful film- nearly every frame in this movie is picturesque. Culturally, I think this film flies under the radar a little, which might be because this is a long movie that meanders a little in the last third. But this film absolutely has its moments- including the very real on-screen chemistry between Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes.

The Fall Guy is hilarious & I’m rewatching this film as we speak on a beautiful Sunday morning. Ryan Gosling is great in this movie & I think the story- which shines a light on stunt work- is oddly refreshing. This movie isn’t perfect but it has a lot of heart and soul.

Ryan Gosling gave one of the best performances of his career this year in Project Hail Mary, but he’s played an astronaut before & arguably even better in Damien Chazelle’s 2018 release First Man about Neil Armstrong. Gosling is commanding & intense. His charisma is largely turned off & it serves the performance. More people should see this film.

Fracture is a fantastic film. Anthony Hopkins & Ryan Gosling put on an acting masterclass. I watched this film for the first time during a study break while preparing for the State Bar exam. Gotta admit- it’s a relatively accurate legal thriller & it’s wildly entertaining.
