Did you know that electric vehicles can go back into Thermal Runaway weeks later? The ‘smoke’ you see isn’t actually smoke, it is a highly flammable, toxic and explosive vapour. BMW M5, E60. This is what made it special. The engine. V10 in a family saloon, what was BMW thinking or snorting back then? 500 hp from the S85B50 V10 engine, high revving and one of the best sounding V10's ever and the best sounding BMW of all time. Nothing else matters as much. Of course, there are downsides. Reliability isn’t great. This is not a simple car to own. But that’s part of it, high risk, high reward. You take care of it, and it gives you that V10 sound. Some even converted them to manual to ditch the SMG gearbox and USA even got the manual from factory. And there’s a Touring as well, even more added insanity.

One of THE MOST impactful changes we can make to urban roads in India is to maintain consistent road widths from one intersection to the next. Our current, variable road widths disrupt the orderly flow of traffic. For example, if there's just a bit of extra space on the side, auto-rickshaws attempt to squeeze in, causing chaos. If a road suddenly narrows from three lanes to two and a half, congestion follows. In cities like London, when extra right-of-way is found, the footpaths are widened up to the road. But in Mumbai, we tend to expand the road instead. The issue with this approach is that the number of private vehicles in a densely populated city like Mumbai can grow without limits. Expanding roads only encourages more vehicles. On the other hand, widening footpaths doesn't cause the same problem because the space required for pedestrians is limited—walking is highly space-efficient. #WalkingProject

In the late 1930s and during World War II, the Allies accounted for 65–75% of global warship production. Today that balance has reversed: China, Russia, and Iran now represent roughly the same share, as I published in December. When I refer to ground forces, the Allies’ share during the same period of 30s-40s, was at least 60%. Today the correlation has also flipped and places NATO at a greater disadvantage: Russia, China, and Iran account for more than 70% of global production of tanks, artillery, and armored vehicles. But nothing is as striking as missile production, which has no parallel with World War II. Today China, Iran, and Russia are responsible for roughly 90% of global production of ballistic and cruise missiles across short, medium, and long ranges. Production of components and precursors for modern explosives in Russia, Iran, and China also exceeds 50% of global output, without considering rare earths. BMW has angered customers by sending ads for the new Spider-Man movie directly to in-car infotainment systems. An ad appears as a notification when starting the car, and when tapped, it plays a full-screen 19-second video. In response to complaints, BMW said it's "not an ad" and is "part of a broader brand partnership with the film." BMW's original press release said: "To celebrate the partnership with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, BMW has a special surprise for its drivers. Starting the car brings up a special banner in the Control Display." Cars built after July 2020 with BMW Operating System 7 or newer are displaying the Spider-Man promo in more than 70 markets. Sure sounds like an ad to me 😂

The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art. But we need to support new voices. We need to support new ideas. The challenge is huge. I hope to contribute all I can to this change. I hope more and more see how exciting it is to go out and try to discover what else is out there and move this space forward. But again, I understand the leaps of faith needed, but if there is a space that is based on that, it's the NFT space...so there is hope. We will see. 📺by Boldtron

I have been wondering why more passengers (including me) are choosing Spiro Rwanda electric bikes over fuel-powered bodas! Here is the logic; A litre of fuel is costing 2,938 Frw. On average, one litre allows a fuel-powered bike to travel about 40km. In comparison, a fully charged battery of a #Spiro electric bike costs 2,450 Frw and allows travel of up to 75 - 80km. That is nearly double the distance at a 20% lower cost. For Boda Boda guys, it means reduced operating expenses, and for us the passengers, it translates into more affordable fares. No wonder Spiro bodas are winning the streets! #EnergyOnTheMove

Why Hyderabad Drowns After A 20min Rain? I may not have a simple answer to this complex question but was in Raidurgam area yesterday and this what I saw. This is right next to the Raidurgam metro. It is like the IT hub of Hyderabad and look at the state of things here. Roads are being dug to lay drainage pipes. Locals told me it has been close to a year since they started digging. The debris is just lying on the road, existing drainage seems to be damaged and all the sewer is flowing on to the main road. To make things worse, many are parking right on the road making the congested area much more difficult to commute. There is no parking space at Raidurgam Metro. If someone wants to take the metro, they have to arrive on a separate vehicle to reach. Plus there are a million autos lined up on the road. Traffic police who hide behind trees or corner you in some random street won’t regulate traffic on the main roads. They won’t show a solution to park vehicles but will collect challans. Why are you collecting challans without any space being earmarked for parking? Do you expect people to jump off a parachute and get into a metro? We look at China, Japan with their advanced technology of laying roads in a day and will be wowed. Here governments talk about AI city, Future City and such money minting projects for the government and still get wowed. Why isn’t AI or advanced technology being used to repair roads, drainages or maintain infrastructure in the existing city??? Why this craze to call the existing city a dump and then pumping huge public money into a nonexistent Future City? Why is governance driven by real estate ambitions of a few politicians?

I drove Tesla for the first time; I felt happy like a child for the first 10 minutes, and was totally disappointed the rest of the ride The autopilot feature is not available in the EU, but even the lane-control works extremely badly Tesla didn't recognize road works and almost crushed me into a barrier Then it went completely crazy on a temporary orange lane and started wiggling around The assistant consistently missed lanes and ignored speed limit signs, so I had to disable the assistant and drive manually I drove an electric BMW i4 before, and it had a much better cruise control and assistant (it boggles my mind that BMW kicked Tesla's ass in software) With BMW, I never had to touch the gas pedal and drove the car just using cruise control and speed limit assistant You could also set a speed limit, and even if you pressed full gas, it never crossed, which was handy in a city Tesla is still an insane product, the interior and exterior design are amazing, but it feels like an app with an amazing frontend and a very poor backend (at least in the EU) Driving gave me a lot of motivation to make more $$$, and I will still probably get a Tesla, and not a BMW bz BMW is a car for boomers

More Batteries vs. Submarines Now that the German TKMS and the French Naval Group have massively adopted lithium-ion batteries, following the Japanese lead, this is consolidating as a major trend, just as I had predicted. The next stage will be solid-state batteries, and at that point, we'll essentially be discussing only speed and submerged endurance in comparison to nuclear submarines. Since solid-state batteries are lighter, they will allow for a greater number to be installed, freeing up space for more powerful propulsion systems. Naval Group has already sold a version of the Scorpène to Indonesia capable of remaining submerged for up to 80 days. That's with lithium-ion batteries. Imagine what this could exceed, more than double, with solid-state batteries. In practical terms, a more powerful engine combined with solid-state batteries in the proportions that Naval Group is now using in the Scorpène would provide three times the speed, meaning something like 10–15 knots at constant speed while maintaining around 50 days submerged. This would give a range of 40,000–50,000 km, requiring less than one hour on the surface for a fast recharge. For speeds above 25 knots, simply adding more batteries and a better engine would suffice, as the solid-state system has high power output. All this at 15–20% of the cost of a nuclear submarine. And if the choice is to power the batteries with a micro-reactor, it would cost 25–35% of a conventional nuclear one. Then someone will say: “But a nuclear sub can stay submerged for years.” That makes no difference at all, since even with around 60 days of endurance, the crew still needs to surface to resupply provisions. The big advantages remain: battery-powered subs are superior in silence, and speed can be addressed with larger battery packs.

Today marks General Availability of AgentCore, a set of infrastructure building blocks for developers and companies to build secure, scalable agents. When we first started AWS, the vast majority of developers were spending most of their time on the undifferentiated heavy lifting of infrastructure instead of what differentiated their feature. So, we solved that problem by building primitive building blocks like compute and storage and database that would allow teammates and customers to quickly build and deploy new experiences without having to reinvent the wheel each time. We realized the same thing was happening with AI agents. It's too difficult and it's slowing customers down. That's why we created AgentCore, a set of services to build, deploy, and operate highly capable agents using any framework or model, with enterprise-grade security and scalability. These building blocks (like serverless secure runtime, memory, observability, a gateway that does MCP translation, etc) help customers tackle some of the biggest challenges of going from prototype to production, much more quickly, securely, and scalably. AgentCore has been in preview for several weeks, and customers have been quite excited about it.
