Bob Stoops laid out the issues he’s seeing with the OU offense. And it starts with turnovers. “I feel for John, I just don’t think you can play that position without confidence. And unfortunately…when so many bad things have happened it’s hard to have that confidence.”

Bob would have pulled him

@ouvstheworld At what point do you stop feeling bad for a man making millions? For me, I'm past that point. I don't care if we hurt his feelings. It is about winning football games, not feelings of someone making millions.

The QB and OC in year 4 together can’t figure out how to protect the football or find open receivers. Oline cant get a push and averaging 1 yard per rush for most of the game. Head coach too busy yelling at the defense for giving up 5 yards 🤣

-8 turnovers in last three games. Winning one because it was New Mexico. Had that been an SEC team, most likely a third loss.

Hot take: they turn it around against Texas. Idk why but I have a feeling. They can and you have seen it, they can.

That's good stuff coach Stoops you've always looked at things from both sides that's what made you the winner you were and still are! Boomer Sooner

I agree with coach Stoops, it’s all of it. And that starts at the top with the coach, BV.

Play Whitt

Him not being able to pull the trigger on simple throws is 100% lack of confidence

This man built this program back from near ruin, and now these last 2 bafoons have done everything to tear it down. Hey OU admin, don’t make a lazy hire next time and pass up on the next Lanning or Freeman just to hire a program guy that is just a coordinator at best.

Bring in Bob as a consultant. Someone with skills needs to manage our offense. Bob can find a solution

When you don’t have at least 2 seconds to set your feet to pass the play does not have time to materialize

Put another way he’s saying you can’t play Mateer and expect to win!! Get a clue BV!

BV listen to Bob.

What a bullshit copout answer by @CoachBobStoops . Why not just say what is really on his mind? Why do we have to handle a 22yo man, making over $1M a year with kid gloves? @John_Mateer4 , mentally, is wrecked and not coming back from it. No 1 person is bigger than the program.

The coaching staff must see something in Mateer that clicks in practice but doesn't quite make the grade on game days. A QB's confidence has to gel within 1 or 2 quarters of a game, not 2 to 3 games of a season.

Same happened to jackson Arnold, and he wss never the same after the Tennessee game. And he got replaced

When you turn the ball over three times in a row and doom your team to defeat it should affect your confidence.

This sums it up in a nutshell w a bow around it.

Compassionately said, thank~you coach .

He's got million$ of reasons to have confidence.

bro Bob called it early too. once them turnovers started piling up you could see Mateer's whole demeanor shift. confidence gone

I really regret every bad thought I ever had about @CoachBobStoops . Dude has been solid over the years.

Translation “ I would make the move to another QB”

I can also lay the issues out for you . John Mateer suck ass

copy/paste from ‘24 season. horrendous luck or???

in relation had his best passing game of the season. c if u minus the int & fumble & you throw in some more running they would have been there to pull it off at thr end

He has to play one game at a time.

He didn’t put up with turning the ball over

Yet he talked up Mateer like a heisman over the summer
