It’s literally every company. What about @amazon who laid off tons of Americans yesterday? Oh that’s right, Bezos personal ties to Trump prevail.

Election season red meat that should have been taken up on day one. I still remember Trump's quip to Laura Ingram about "Americans don't have the talent to do those jobs". It's hard to be even guardedly optimistic after the past year and half but this is a fun new development.

Way to pretend like you give a fuck at the very last minute. Not a single promise kept.

Color me skeptical. More likely than not, the investigations will go nowhere and it'll be business as usual. The business owners/donors have too much money/influence to allow too much change.

Time to abolish H1B and kick out all the current H1B holders. Employ the laid off IT Workers of America. We have O Visa for the few genius folks like Oppenheimer.

I'm not dismissing the significant win here but let's not forget the hundreds of thousands Cognizant and others still have sitting in holding patterns who were given positions THROUGH DISCRIMINATION PRACTICE that have not yet been dealt with or ceased. "Cognizant faces prior civil findings of discrimination favoring Indian workers (often on H-1B visas) over non-Indian employees, but those cases have not produced an H-1B program suspension or October 2024, a federal jury in Palmer v. Cognizant found the company engaged in a pattern or practice of intentional race and national-origin discrimination against a class of more than 2,000 non-Indian and non-South Asian employees terminated from the “bench” between 2013 and 2022. The verdict supported punitive damages; a related disparate-impact claim proceeded separately. A 2020 EEOC investigation had earlier concluded that Cognizant discriminated against a nationwide class of non-Indian employees on the basis of race and national origin. Bloomberg reporting on internal data described higher termination rates for U.S. workers relative to visa holders and internal practices that prioritized Indian H-1B employees for placements. These are employment-discrimination matters under civil-rights statutes, not Department of Labor visa enforcement actions, and they did not result in any H-1B filing ban.The 2026 actions are separate. The DOL Office of Inspector General launched a nationwide probe into alleged H-1B and PERM fraud (including wage issues, fraudulent filings, and related practices) around July 2026 and suspended Cognizant’s PERM filings in September, later expanded on October 8 to a broader group of firms. Official statements and reporting indicate existing H-1B status is unaffected and the formal suspension targets PERM labor certifications for green cards, not a debarment from the H-1B program itself. Some immigration practitioners have reported processing delays on certain H-1B extensions or transfers for Cognizant and other large sponsors, but no government announcement has imposed an H-1B suspension tied to the earlier discrimination litigation."

Suspending perm program temporary does not bring back the jobs lost. No immediate impact to any of these companies. Most of these companies do EB1 and that does not need labor certification.
