C-17 is not an original Boeing product. It was designed and built in Long Beach, aka McDonald Douglas. Its first flight was in Sep 91 and entered service in Jan 95. Meger was Aug 97.

A friend of the family was one of the program managers. He took us on Edwards when they were still testing the C-17 and took us on a tour of them.
