HUGE FIRE at recycling plant as smoke billows across #Leeds skyline. Firefighters from across West Yorkshire are still responding to a large blaze in the Cross Green area of the city. Flames can be seen raging from the European Metal Recycling depot on Knowsthorpe Way. Resources including aerial Appliances, command unit and hose layers are at the scene. Police are assisting with road closures and scene management.

Police and Helicopter Search Harehills After Bus Driver Assault Police, backed by a police helicopter, are searching the #Harehills area of #Leeds in what is thought to be connected to an assault on a bus driver nearby. The incident happened a short time ago on Beckett Street, just outside St James’s Hospital. The attacked bus remains at the scene, with police officers present as the investigation continues. West Yorkshire Police said: Police were called to Beckett Street Leeds, near St James’s University Hospital, at about 3.07pm this afternoon to a report a bus driver had been assaulted. The suspect, described as a black male wearing all black clothing, made off from the scene. Officers attended and initial enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A number of people were taken to hospital following an incident in the Holylands area of south Belfast. Police along with other emergency services were called to Damascus Street around 5.30pm on Tuesday. Three ambulances, four fire appliances and six police cars were seen at the scene.

Machete fight breaks out in Dewsbury town centre this evening A group was thrashing machetes about in front of horrified shoppers on Foundry Street in Dewsbury town centre this evening. Police helicopter circled overhead as armed officers rushed to the scene. West Yorkshire police in a statement said: At 3.27pm officers were called to Foundry Street in Dewsbury to reports people were fighting in the street with machetes. Armed Police attended all was in order and no injuries have been reported. Enquiries are ongoing.

MUTLI AGENCY operation after huge blaze rips through derlict mill in #Leeds as both West & North Yorkshire fire crews battle flames. Added disruption is caused to this incident, due to the road closures of Armley Gyratory until 0600 on Monday. Fire appliances from across West Yorkshire and support from North Yorkshire have attended the Maurice Mills, which form part of the Canal Mills in #Armley this morning. Initial calls at just after 5am reported fire coming from the building, next to Castleton Mill on Brandon Street. At its height, 12 appliances were at the scene including the command unit, aerial appliances, hose layers and the High Volume pumps, which carried water from the nearby canal to the incident. West Yorkshire Fire said; “Firefighters were called to a building fire at Canal Mills, Armley just after 5am this morning (28 July). “We currently have 12 fire engines and two aerial appliances at this incident. “This is a derelict single storey building - approximately 50m x 50m, 75% involved in fire. Fire crews are currently using 2 large jets and 2 aerial appliances to tackle the fire.”
