Gluing new dots down puts maintenance crews dangerously close to freeway traffic. The Upgrade: Botts' Dots are being replaced by 6-inch-wide (thicker) road stripes made of highly reflective thermoplastic tape. This material is brighter at night, more visible in the rain, and lasts significantly longer.
