Rob Reiner on the comparisons between "The Sure Thing" (1985) & "It Happened One Night" (1934): "A lot of people have said 'The Sure Thing' (1985) was like a teenage version of 'It Happened One Night' (1934). It’s hard to believe but at that point I’d never seen that movie. I’ve subsequently seen it and the only thing that’s comparable to me is that it’s on the road and the two people who don’t particularly like each other fall in love. The only thing that I ever shoot for is to try to be as good as I can be at the time. You may look back on something you’ve done ten, twelve years ago and say, “Well, that’s not as good as I can do now.” And it’s really irrelevant. The only thing you can go by is whether this as good as you can do at the time you’re doing it. And I felt when I finished 'The Sure Thing', it was as good as I could do at that time."
