Of course CBC will spend its time attacking Alberta Premier Danielle Smith for suggesting the common sense thing of getting back to the negotiations table with the US to resume talks, something that Mark Carney will do. "Do you know who is the most popular politician in Alberta is? Mark Carney, not Danielle Smith. I would encourage her to remember what country she belongs to." Pure derangement.

Canada is on the verge of surpassing 100,000 assisted suicides. That number exceeds the country's entire World War II death toll. 🇨🇦 This is MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying). Track 1 applies to those whose natural death is reasonably foreseeable. Track 2 is where it gets deeply troubling. Canada's own government website describes Track 2 to apply where a natural death is NOT reasonably foreseeable, leaving hospital bioethicists to determine whether a person has given "serious consideration" to other means of relieving their suffering. There is no clear standard. There is no defined boundary. It is, by design, a massive gray area. The United Nations has formally told Canada to stop Track 2 entirely. Mental health professionals, disability advocates, and medical groups are raising alarms about how poverty and lack of access to adequate care are shaping patients' decisions to choose death. He had complications from diabetes but was not terminal. -Multiple hospitals have offered MAID before treatment. A practice that should result in the revocation of the Doctor's medical license. -The Liberals included mental illness, but as an exclusion that expires next year. Meaning, if it's allowed to expire, MAID will be available for those with mental illness. None of this is compassion. There is no version of these examples, that is medicine. The Ontario Coroner’s Office recently released a report from a committee reviewing medically assisted deaths. It includes disturbing case studies. For example: -A psychiatrist proactively raised assisted suicide to a man in his 40’s with inflammatory bowel disease, who was undergoing a mental health assessment. The committee found his substance use was not explored in the #MAiD assessments. He was not offered addiction treatments. There was no documented input from his family. The MAiD provider personally drove him in their vehicle to the location of his death. -The report shows people who received assisted suicide under Track 2 – where death is not reasonably foreseeable – were much more likely to live in marginalized areas of Ontario.
