“I will work only in Hindu areas” BJP leader Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha won the Katigorah constituency in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. He said Mu$lims know Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will become CM, still except 2/3 booths of Rashtrawadi Muslims, all Muslims didn’t vote, so I will work in Hindu areas, where out of 900 votes polled 895 votes given to BJP, and this happened in all Hindu areas.

He is spare heading in spreading Islam in Upper Assam by organising Iftar in Dibrugarh University and other activities. He is allegedly involved in many illegal activities as alleged by local organisations. Interestingly till now Tinsukia Police have not interrogated or arrested them.
