BREAKING: Si Phi Ko has arrived at Universal Ostrich Farms to meet with the RCMP and demand to be let in the pens to count the ostriches. RCMP arrived and listened to her message and they have gone to relay it to CFIA. This ads a new and interesting dynamic to this entire situation. More to come.

Universal Ostrich Farms Update: We are still trying to get a headcount on the number of birds here, it is proving to be quite difficult. The family is quite concerned, as are supporters. The CFIA will not provide a headcount and are not being transparent with the family or the public. The RCMP have stated that they have begun in an investigation and that the investigation is ongoing but they are relying on information from CFIA for their investigation. I don't know if there are missing birds here, but I think that the truth matters and we are going to do our best to get to the bottom of it. More to come.

Update from Universal Ostrich Farms Many of the RCMP vehicles have pulled back, there appears to be a skeleton crew here and all of the outward facing spotlights are now off. It looks like the cfia might be getting ready to head out during the night. The RCMP are likely to remain while the fences are taken down. CFIA, RCMP, it's time to leave and let this family grieve.

UPDATE: No word today from the Supreme Court of Canada, it's likely the birds at Universal Ostrich Farms will survive at least until after Thanksgiving weekend. Karen gives us an update on where things stand and touches on a few developments this week. More to come.

More concerning news from Universal Ostrich Farms. The ostriches that were in the sick pen have been chased out by the CFIA and are now wondering out in general population. If these birds get picked on they will have no way of defending themselves leading to further injuries.

The scene here at Universal Ostrich Farms in Edgewood, BC is somehow becoming even more dystopian. A whole bunch. More construction fences being erected today and flatbeds have were moving in and out. Imagine if this was your farm or your property? I will never get used to this, nor should you.

There is a sick bird at Universal Ostrich Farms. The owners don't believe CFIA is properly caring for the bird and are requesting their veterinarian check on and treat the bird. RCMP relay that CFIA is willing to let the vet see the bird tomorrow. Tomorrow could be too late!

The CFIA is attempting to corral the ostriches using a net, the birds don’t seem to be having it. Run pretty birds, run. I may not agree with how everything has been handled by the owners of Universal Ostrich Farms however as an animal lover, this is devastating to watch.

BREAKING: Jim Kerr has been arrested by the RCMP at Universal Ostrich Farms Jim was taken from the farm to the RCMP command post nearby to be processed and will likely be released afterwards. He will likely be prohibited from returning to the property by the conditions of his release. More details to come.

UPDATE from Universal Ostrich Farms: Mike and I took FOB SMITH to the RCMP command post. There is a lot of fencing and a lot of bins there today but far less vehicles and police than usual. There is still no official ostrich count and no indication that CFIA or RCMP will be doing one. Mike and I are continuing to gather evidence, we are looking for the truth. There is zero transparency here and a lot of things in place that make it appear there is something to hide. CFIA or the RCMP could easily put many of these questions to rest with a count of the birds and a sliver of transparency.

OP BINWATCHING is underway. There has been serious, and I believe credible, concern raised here at Universal Ostrich Farms that the number of birds here is low and possibly dropping. Sgt. Mike Rude (retired) has been collecting evidence and has provided that to the RCMP along with a sworn affidavit. The RCMP have confirmed that they have begun and investigation and that it is ongoing. However, they have also stated to the family that they do not plan to do an independent headcount and will rely on CFIA for information. We know for certain that one ostrich has already died here while under the "care" of CFIA and under the "protection" of the RCMP. A simple headcount could clear this up and relieve a lot of stress on the family and the public following this story. I don't know if there are birds missing yet, but many people do and the evidence I've seen from Mike and with my own eyes makes me inclined to think something is off. If there are birds missing, we are going to do our best to prove it and if there isn't, that would be the best outcome. More to come.

Flatbeds and trucks have been seen in the area and we suspect they will be used to collect the fencing around the property. People, including myself, are still dealing with the trauma from what happened here. I think I'm mostly out of shock and exhaustion and emotion are setting in. There's still a lot to do here. There will be a lot of work to do once the CFIA and RCMP clear out, I will update as things progress.

BREAKING: CFIA informs Universal Ostrich Farm that the warrant has been served but they will be "allowed" to spend the night. If they do not leave tomorrow there "could be consequences". In other words, they can suffer all night and if they don't leave in the morning they will be arrested so the birds can be slaughtered.
