Bill C-8 raises many concerns that security will come at the expense of liberty. Security and protecting our digital infrastructure is important but the Canadian Charter rights must be respected. The government cannot continue to push forward legislation which has the potential to threaten these inalienable freedoms.

The Canadian Independent first reported on this two weeks ago, and the Bill has now passed its third reading and received royal assent. The Financial Measures Act, also known as Bill 419, mandates that physicians, hospitals, and individuals with access to personal patient medical records must disclose them to the government.

"I think the Canadian people realize that our geography no longer protects us as a matter of course. The Canadian people know that the threat landscape has changed. The Canadian people understand that there are foreign interference activities going on. They understand that we need to make these investments." Sure, so how does open borders work with this strategy? It's also the Liberals who openly let foreign interference and actors operate in Canada. It also doesn't answer where the $100B+ will come from. But rest assured they will continue to give themselves automatic raises and lifetime pensions.
