BREAKING: Five M-class solar flares have exploded in the "Earth strike zone" from the Sun over the last 21 hours, the strongest being a M6.9, and CMEs have been launched towards Earth. Solar storm impacts and geomagnetic storming are expected in a few days...

Earth was hit by multiple CMEs triggering a G3- geomagnetic storm last night, and we're now being buffeted by fast solar wind. More Earth-directed solar storms are racing towards Earth and are expected to impact in <12 hours now. I expect G3-G4 geomagnetic conditions, get ready!

The Sun exploded off another powerful solar flare (6.5 M-class) today October 10th 2026. This struck right when a much stronger than expected (by most) solar storm hit Earth, and as I'm writing this we're now in a G3 strong geomagnetic storm, with the potential for G4 severe levels in the hours ahead...

Multiple solar storms have launched from the Sun over the last few days, and the first #spaceweather impacts have begun here at 1 AU as more waves of plasma are soon to arrive. NOAA expects minor to moderate (G1-G2) geomagnetic storming, and it's possible it goes higher...

In the last 38 hours we've had 1.7 and 1.1 X-flares from the Sun, earthquake activity off the coast of Japan (M6.8, M6.4, M6.0) has becoming worrying and looking like foreshock activity for a BIG earthquake (M8+), and we're now in a S1 radiation storm from the 2nd X-flare. Multiple solar storm impacts are expected over the next few days. Big linear planetary alignment occurs on the 20th with the Sun, Mercury, Moon, Earth, and Uranus with Pluto and Saturn+Neptune in harmonic aspects. Yikes...

131A imagery of the Sun showing the C-class solar flaring that's been active the last ~2 days now. It's looking very likely we'll see M-flares and potentially X-flares in the days ahead.

Two solar storms have left the Sun and are racing towards Earth's position in interplanetary space. Geomagnetic disturbances are expected to begin tomorrow, but don't be surprised if instead it starts on Oct. 3rd, and/or the impacts are minor.

Double hit directly over the Americas with 6.7 and 6.3 M-flares. A solar storm impact is also already in progress, through the geomagnetic activity from it has been relatively muted thus far (+Bz)...

A series of reoccurring coronal holes are starting their rotation through Earth-center, and the trans-equatorial coronal hole will be geoeffective in ~5 days. Earth was in the high-speed solar wind from this coronal hole after a G2 geomagnetic storm for the M7.8 Philippines EQ.

NEW: A solar storm was launched from the Sun yesterday and is on the way to Earth. NOAA has issued a Moderate Geomagnetic Storm Watch for Friday, October 9 due to anticipated arrival. Community consensus on the arrival of this CME is around the first half of the UTC day on Friday, but our in-house model has the storm arriving near Earth a bit later, closer to 15 UTC. Expected Kp range between 4 and 6. #spaceweather

The Sun has really woken up over the past 48 hours, producing multiple solar flares (including an “X-class” event), across 4 different regions. Further large flares are likely in the coming days!

Aurora borealis was seen around the world last night — all because of an extremely powerful solar flare On Sunday, the first major solar flare of the year occurred — an X1.95-class event. A cloud of charged particles reached Earth in less than 24 hours. On the night of January 19–20, the aurora was observed in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Western Europe, and North America. An extremely strong geomagnetic storm hit the planet. Geomagnetic activity nearly reached the maximum G5 level. Disruptions have been reported worldwide. Radio signals, satellite navigation, and other systems dependent on a stable magnetic field have been affected.

In a cosmic embrace the Sun has launched two coronal mass ejections to each side of the Earth. Neither will hit the Earth, but the overall energy flux from our Sun outwards into the Solar System has been elevated the past few days, strengthening the electromagnetic field of the heliosphere as a whole, just in time for the Great Saturn-Neptune Conjunction

A sequence of coronal mass ejections have launched from the Sun and Earth will be impacted by these waves of plasma on September 8th. A G1 minor geomagnetic storm watch has been issued by NOAA.

The Earth's magnetic field protects us not only from solar flares but also from cosmic radiation. When the Sun enters a Grand Solar Minimum, its magnetic field weakens for a long period. This lets more cosmic radiation into the Solar System, and this directly impacts the climate on Earth and increases volcanic activity. The last Little Ice Age occurred during a Grand Solar Minimum. But the coming Grand Solar Minimum is going to hit harder because the Earth's magnetic field is at least 30% weaker and, with the ongoing geomagnetic excursion, is continuing to weaken. This will let in more cosmic radiation, which will directly cause mutations, pandemics, cooling, crop failures, and even crustal displacement. Since the advent of modern technology, we haven't experienced either a Grand Solar Minimum or a geomagnetic excursion, and we are due for both.

The volatility - yes, volatility - in AR 4366 is absolutely unbelievable. I don't think I have ever used the word 'volatility' to describe an active region. The X-ray flux has been mostly above the M-class threshold for *35 hours* now. There have been 25+ M-class and 4 X-class flares. It is unfortunate that most of these flares are impulsive, else we'd have a train of CMEs en route and likely impacting by now. Even so, the show is incredible, one of the highlights of Solar Cycle 25 - we will be talking about this for a long time!

Yesterday’s near X-class #SolarFlare (M9.75-class) produced a clear CME and solar radiation storm (causing the fuzzy noise shown in the data). The CME is expected to arrive Monday, with a G2 geomagnetic storm currently predicted. #spaceweather #astronomy

Space Weather picks up in a big way! Region 4246 launches 4 solar storms towards Earth. Region 4248 &4250 are now entering the same hot longitudes & getting more active. Expect big flares, HF radio blackouts & storm launches to continue! Strong Earth-impacts peak October 15-17.
