Harjinder Singh, the driver of the tractor-trailer involved in the tragic August 12 crash that killed three people on Florida’s Turnpike made his first court appearance this morning. He appeared before the Honorable Judge Lauren Sweet in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. Harjinder Singh was originally charged with three counts of vehicular homicide. He now faces three additional charges of manslaughter. During today’s hearing, Judge Lauren Sweet ordered that no bond be set. She began calling 911 and he tried ripping her PHONE out of her hand while she was calling 911. Then he told her, in his own words: "I'm going to knock you out and drag you into the woods." Then two mountain bikers, Harvest and Trevor, drove up and the guy ran off. Emily is alive because of those two strangers. Ashton Clark, 18, of Lenoir County, has been charged with Felony Assault by Strangulation and Conspiracy. He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail and is being held under a $50,000 secured bond. Landon Harris, 19, of Pitt County, has been charged with Cyberbullying and Conspiracy. He was also placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond. A 17-year-old juvenile has been charged with Felony Assault by Strangulation and Conspiracy. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to a secure juvenile detention facility. Investigators have identified six additional juveniles who are expected to face charges ranging from Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Simple Assault, and Conspiracy. Those individuals will be processed through the juvenile system The investigation remains active and ongoing, and officials anticipate additional arrests as more information is developed. According to the victim’s family, the incident occurred on May 24 just outside of Grifton in Lenoir County NC and the victim was Black.
