Let me ask you an honest question: Who’s your daddy? If you’re a high school student athlete in Illinois, the answer is easy when it comes to one’s “Right to Play.” It’s not your Mom or Dad. It’s a private third-party vendor called the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). If you play a high school sport, the IHSA controls you even when your school day is over and even more when school isn’t even in session. It’s long been an overreach of control from a small group of narrow-minded ego-driven adults literally dictating what student athletes and families can do in their free time. But much-needed and welcome change is getting closer for all student athletes and their families, as more and more student athletes and parents come forward from present and past to speak up and talk about the disadvantages the IHSA - and those who benefit from it - have and are causing. The first victory earlier this week was by slaughter rule, a 12-0 thumping over the IHSA in committee vote. Now it moves to the big leagues. You can read more here: I encourage you to engage and educate yourself in a topic that 75 percent of high school student athletes across the U.S. can do, but it’s something high school student athletes in Illinois can’t do. Over the next 30 days, you are going to see more stories and hear directly from student athletes, families, leading athletic trainers and doctors, school leaders from Illinois and other states on local and national media outlets talking about this overreach and how the IHSA continues to put student athletes at a disadvantage. So I ask you again: Since when does a private third-party vendor get to control what student athletes and their families do, especially during their free time? Think about that. As you’ll see once again, it’s another classic case of cherry-picking to benefit one’s self by an organization that has now lost three consecutive court cases due to its unlawful dictating overreach. As always, I’ll layout both sides and show you how this has and continues to work easily and well for high school student athletes and schools across the U.S. - except in Illinois. They’ll say “health & safety.” They’ll say “scheduling & other logistics.” I’ll show you how those stocked talking points aren’t even tired, “they’re outdated” as one athletic trainer and other athletic director said to me today. Change for adults who control is always hard. It’s time to do what is right and long overdue for high school student athletes and families in Illinois. The claim was that male athletes identifying as female have “no inherent biological advantage” over girls. But just this week BPJ, a biological boy, won the girls’ state championship in shot put. As a sophomore. This is exactly why parents and female athletes across the country continue speaking out. We were at the U.S. Supreme Court in January as BPJ v. West Virginia was argued before the justices, and one thing is clear: this issue is not confined to blue states. It is impacting girls everywhere. Girls deserve fair competition. Girls deserve equal opportunities. Girls deserve leaders willing to defend biological reality. We are thankful for the courageous athletes standing for truth and fairness, and grateful for the work of Alliance Defending Freedom in defending female athletes nationwide.

Naming names. Last night I confronted CIF State director Ron Nocetti and Brian Seymour, the “Gender Inclusivity” contact for CIF, while waiting to board our flight back to Sacramento. I had flown down to Long Beach for the CIF Federated Council meeting to speak on behalf of the girls suing the CA Dept of Education and CIF for violating their rights to fair and safe sports and locker rooms without boys. There were over 50 female athletes, moms and dads there to speak during public comment but they only gave us 20 minutes (10 speakers), and yet every trans activists had a chance to speak. The insanity continues as male athlete AB Hernandez is slated to compete in the girls’ long jump and girls’ triple jump at today’s invitational VS Athletics CA Winter Championships at Arcadia High School.

Look around the U.S. at how high school soccer is structured in states to help and protect kids. In Florida, high school games are only played during the week so student athletes can still compete in exposure club tournaments on the weekend if they choose to. In Texas, schools are limited to 2 games per week: One game Monday-Thursday and one Friday or Saturday. No back-to-backs are allowed. In Nebraska, the final week of the postseason schedule is: Monday → Friday → Monday. That’s what prioritizing student athlete health and safety actually looks like. Then there’s Illinois and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Until it was forced by a student athlete-led Illinois House Bill in spring of 2025, the IHSA owned and blocked student athletes from any outside event during the season. The IHSA has no health and safety limitation on the number of games that may be played in a week. The IHSA had schools playing FOUR of its final tournament games in FIVE days — including the possibility of 3 final games in 24 hours. Don’t believe me: Tuesday → Friday → Saturday (two). Now, it’s only one game on Saturday: Tuesday → Friday → Saturday…a mere 3 games in 120 hours. So let’s recap: Florida protects weekends to help kids have options. In Minnesota, we have a priorities problem. We voted on a comprehensive safety package for all students, all schools - no matter zip code or type of school. It included school safety upgrades, mental health support, and edits to our school discipline policies. All that needed to happen was for us to shutdown a failed train project. The vote failed, but I hope you’ll take the time to listen to my plea for why this legislation mattered… especially given the fact that the governor wants to fully eliminate any and all non-public support. Annunciation, and schools like it, are non-public schools. Those kids deserve safety as much as any other kid.

🚨New: Retaliation for speaking out? Loudoun County Public Schools suspended a student for TEN DAYS and is not allowing him to participate in graduation after writing on a bathroom wall. The student asked if other students had been victimized by a student who is accused of filming dozens of kids under bathroom stalls at school. The student says he’s a victim himself, and so is his little brother. Sources tell me the filming has been going on for three years and that LCPS has known about it for much longer than they’re telling parents. Sources also tell me the student charged with unlawful filming is a male student who goes by a girls name, wears girls clothes, and has been seen using girls and boys bathrooms at school.

Notre Dame revealed its brand new dining hall facility yesterday, marking the first official release of photos by the University of the Shields Family Hall football facility. In 2024, the school announced that they would be building a brand new football facility to replace the Gug, which had been in use since 2005. The dining hall will have onsite kitchens and nutrition options for athletes, which previously were not available for the athletics department. Student-athletes would be given pre-cooked meals after their training sessions or would have to travel to the dining hall in order to eat, but will now be able to eat onsite.
