They refused to open the door. That’s the reason the window was broken. You get to see your lawyer after you are arrested, not before.

You're not entitled to an attorney during a lawful roadside detention; even if you're actually an American citizen.

If they say open the window and give us your documents then you do it. These people don’t understand the law. What if Americans did this in Guatemala they probably would put you in prison for a year or so. They would never tolerate Americans overstaying a visa or in the country illegally.
